Need DVD-R drive Help (software related)

My friend game me an NEC 1300 DVD-RW drive because he had bought himself a new double layer drive. I have it hooked up to my Win 98 SE Celeron 600 with 512 megs of Ram, it reads CDs and DVDs but it won't work with the burning software I have (Nero 4.x). Any advice as to what kind of burning software would work with this drive? Is there a freebie I can download?

Thanks, I was able to get it burning! Somebody also gave me their old copy of Adaptec DVD/CD creator 6.

or, for copying DVDs, DVD-shrink to rip and then burn with DVD Decrypter.

I have a dual layer NEC 2500 and have yet to find anything that supports the dual layerness.
