NEED Hdtv LOOK

What's the price range?
I have the Sony 34XBR960 which I found at CC for 1100 about a month ago and it is awesome.
I had a DELL 32inch LCD but SD television looked horrible. But if you don't care about Standard Television Dell LCDs seem pretty good.

it would be nice to find one for under $500 i need one as cheap as possible i dont anything like pip or any fancy features on it other than whats listed i am just wanting good one for the next gen game systems comin out.

If you do, it'll probably be some el cheapo brand and it won't be widescreen. From the looks of it widescreen ones start in th mid to upper 20s. Even then they're at least 500
If it's a CRT it's not going to do 720p at all. Which isn't to say you can't get something somewhat decent. For $500 you'll probably be able to find a Syntax or Norcent LCD in the 26" range if you shop around. Or you can find some cheap (Sanyo) CRT sets in the 30" range, too.

edit: A Sanyo like this: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4810694
they do make hd crt tv's i saw one that was to expensive for me erlier but it said hd flatscreen crt 1080i and it had hdmi inputs i would want something like that but not $1000 like that one was.
hm that is a nice sanyo

But you can't get 720p on consumer level CRT sets. 1080i will look great, though.
im about to bite on this one...

can anyone advise y i should not

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824022014
They're supposed to be really pretty good for price to performance ratio. And that's a great deal as long as shipping doesn't kill you. If you want to see, though, maybe pop down to BB and take a look at an LG set. Supposedly Syntax uses LG parts for their panels.

edit: oh, free 3 day ship. Nice!

Just read zdnet and amazon reviews.. this tv is great for the money.... comes out to $200 a month for 6 mths..

need a nice stand for it. I cant believe i just ordered it

My friend has a 32" Sony Wega and it supports 720p and 1080i. I'm not sure if it has HDMI hookups, but I saw one up at Best Buy for around $850 a few weeks ago. It has an amazing picture, but no widescreen. :(

man i fucking love new egg.. my tv already shipped.. all within 2 hours of ordering. man if i had ordered yesterday i prob would have gotten it by friday. its coming from ca

I was planning on getting one of the new 32" Syntax sets, but if a 37" is $200 more, I might have to consider it.

Yea definitely. As soon as i get it and set it up ill fully test it with 360,pc,etc

Now i guess i need an upconverting dvd player....and now that i have an hd tv.. how should i go about getting hd cable or w.e.. what are my options?

I originally wanted to get something cheaper to tide me over but this is a good deal. I was going to get a 30 or 32 in but i wanted atleast somewhat improvement in size. I currently have a standard 27in trinitron

I broke down and ordered this:

http://www.shopsunshine.com/item.php?item_id=18513

I was looking for something a little lower-end, but the guy at Sears really recommended this for a gaming setup. And it is sexy. It only came out to about $170 more than the no-name box I was considereing before, so I jumped.

From little interest in an Xbox 360 to $1300 lighter, all in 24 hours' time. God, this site is killing me.
That's not 720p, it's 480i, 480p, 1080i, but the vast majoority of HD CRT sets are this way.
Actually, I think that set up-converts everything to 1080i.

those samsungs sure are sexy. i was wowed by them when i went into best buy.. i f i had more money i woulda bought a nice 32"-37" samsung.

Anyone know where to get tv stands for lcd tv's. i dont know what should i buy

I myself would not buy a set that upconverts everything to 1080i as its native resolution, I would much rather have a set that displays a native 720p. Then again I am currently awaiting the Sony 60" A2000, if I like it I am going to have to find a way to get one :D

???

i ordered the olevia . Im looking for like a regular tv stand to replace the crap i have now.
Where did you hear this?
Fatboys clearance thread. Its been pretty reliable for me and my pretty much unshopped local target.

yea bingo but nothing fancy. just one of those basic square like stands that hold tv's and have openings for dvd players or consoles
After reading this thread, I might consider getting the Olevia that Guyver was talking about.
I'm going to show my mom tommorow.

37 inches isn't bad for $1000, free shipping and everything, she may liek it.

I hate when parents assume the people selling it our some ebayers who are trying to scam you, just because it's an awesome deal.

CAG would blow their mind.

Wombat made mention of his HDTV that he got for around 800 bucks on the latest CAGCast. Maybe give it a listen and review it while your at it :p.

guyver2077, I was actually looking at that very same deal earlier today. I read a lot of glowing reviews, with the only complaints being a slightly annoying process of having to go through the menu options to change basic settings, but if that's it then it's still a hell of a deal on a 37" LCD HDTV. What are your thoughts on it so far?

wow i struck out,i think my moms getting me an hdtv for my birth day 2marrow ill let you all know,no one told me but i saw a ad in her car and i just suspect its what i am getting
