Need Help Shutting Down

Lately, I've been having a problem turning off my system, but it only happens about every other time. When I hold the power button on the front after I'm done with a game, it doesn't always shut off. Normally, I hold that button until it turns red, then I flip the switch in the back, but lately I've had to resort to just flipping the back switch. Is there any possible explanation for this?

Ah, I was guessing that was it. You usually have to sign off whatever game you're playing before you shut it down. I'm not sure if this pertains to all online games or just Socom 2, but I know it happens on Socom 2.
 
My Socom 2 just messes my PS2 all up.. it randomly freezes all the time when I auto-search for an open game. It's pretty annoying but the game is so great I have to look past it.. :?

Same goes for Midnight Club 2 when I'm trying to get online. It'll randomly freeze while connecting.

FFXI has never done it though.. nor has Everquest.

When I beta tested Syphon Filter, it froze alot as well.. but it was a beta.
 
yea i have a lil trouble with this too sometimes after i get down playing a game online and try to power it down it makes this weird ass noise and stays like that until i turn the switch off i say its normal and its prolly due to the network adaptor since it only started to happen when i got it ...
 
it's an issue with the Network Adapter i believe. When the network adapter is initialized by the sytem (doesn't even have to be online), you can't reset the system because the NA could get fried by the sudden electricity burst. It's a safety built into the NA.
