i have made a website that looks similar to my school website and I am trying to pull a prank on my school by getting a fake school web page that i made above the real one on Google. My school currently has a Google page rank of 0/10

Does anyone have any tips on getting my website to the top

Well if it was free, everyone and their grandmother would be the first search result for anything.
 
it takes time to get your page to the top of google search. It all depends on how many websites link back to your website, whether those link backs are related to your websites content or not, your use of keywords on your website, etc.

Your school may have a 0 page rank, but your website doesn't even have a PR yet. Which means your website probably hasnt even been submitted to google yet. Submitting your website to google would be the first step. Use google to figure out how its done.

On a side note your school's actual website doesn't even load.

I know my website is submited to google, i signed up for google webmaster tools and i also submitted a site map.


now if you type in "ankeny high school infinite campus" http://www.google.com/search?q=ankeny+high+school+infinite+campus
it now comes up 9th on the list a few days ago it was 10th, does this mean my page rank is going up?
 
I have only spent about 1-2 hours making this. Also there are several other people at my school trying to get it to be at the top of google because they think it would be funny

i don't think your "prank" is funny enough to warrant this much time and effort. and who googles their school's website anyway?
 
in all fairness i did have to google my school to find the website, but that was because i never heard anybody ever mention the school web address, and also because they changed the web address at one point.

If it were a really big school, the prank website could be turned into an actual profitable website if it got turned into a forum, but i have a feeling the school isn't big enough for it.

actually our school recently changed their web address and all of the computers are set to the old school website. so every time internet explorer opens up the page can't be found so the computers are redirected to google.

also right now every once in a while i set someones computer home page to my website when they are not sitting at their computer

Its not really a small school, its a 4A school for all sports, and the high school is going to split into 2 high schools in 4 years, and there are 550 people in my class

My page rank moved is now 405 when you search "ankeny high school"

Must be a shitty school if they can't even teach you where to put an apostrophe.

Also, I feel like you are walking a thin line of getting your ass kicked out of school with this "prank" you are sucking at.
 
i don't think there is anything that they really can do to me for creating a website that is obviously meant to be a joke and is not making any type of threat or hurting anyone's ability to get an education. so i think it is out of their jurisdiction.

Also who really types apostrophes when they're typing in message forms. (yes i know i used on in the previous sentence)

Kids get kicked out of school for doing less on myspace. You are also using the school's registered trademark without permission. Good luck with that.
 
i don't see any copyright information in any part of the schools site.

what have people been kicked out of school for doing stuff on myspace for?

I do remember a few weeks ago someone made a gun threat on myspace and their house was searched and they had someone follow them around at school for a few days

also i honestly cant see the school taking the time to pursuing legal action for something as harmless as this.

Families have been economically ruined for downloading a few tunes, and you think noone would care about your impersonation of the schools official web presence? Kid, you're pretty naive.
 
what about if i added to the bottom that a disclaimer saying i take no responsibility for the content on my page and said that i am not the real school site in small print at the bottom
