CAGiversary!
ok so i settled with the evga 7900gs ko graphics card.. now i need help with this overclocking stuff.. im a total noob but i got this far..

downloaded nTune and NVTray..

kinda got NVTray, but when i downloaded nTune and started the 3 hour fine tuning i got an error message..

"tuning can only be performed on nvidia nforce2 or later based systems"

I clicked ok twice and it started to fine tune.. Will this effect its fine tuning cause i saw in other forums that people are having trouble with nTune and dual cores..

Am i doing this the right way??

Oh and i have a dell e520 intel core 2 duo e6400 w/ 2mb cache, 2gb ddr2..

THANKS!!

Isn't there an ATI Tools equivalent for nVidia? No need to mess with anything, just let it do the OCing for you.

OCing your processor is fairly complicated... the best thing you can do is read some guides since very few people will hold your hand through the process (though some will, a certain member here explained it to me very well- I will withhold his name and let him reveal himself if he wants to).

I'll say that your processor is great and at the moment, you shouldn't really need to OC it. But it will OC fairly nicely if you choose to OC it.

just finished my 3 hour fine tuning to find out it did absolutly nothing.. right clickin the desktop ive got manual overclocking to 563 core/ 812 memory.. how are people getting 601mhz core 1608mhz memory numbers?? my frequency max if 828mhz.. how do i extend it..

overclocking cpu is usually done via your bios. You have such a good machine that you dont even need overclocking...

You can raise your front side bus a little just to test but dont go crazy with it...i would not risk it with your expensive setup

I havent had too much luck oc'ing my mobo passed 220 fsb... the process is fairly more complicated then that however..alot of things come into play

wait wait STOP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING MORE.

Trying to reach what others have done is not the best way to start overclocking, especially due to system environment, cooling techniques etc. That fancy video card you just bought will be totally useless if you burn it up trying to reach frequencies that you just possibly can't. Personally check the temperature as you overclock gradually, not just finetuning it. Use 3DMark and cycle it for 12 hours and check your load and idle temperatures to make sure its adequate (do some research to find adequete temperatures, i can't remember off the top of my head). After it runs without artifacting or crashing for 12 hours at good temperatures, then increase your overclock and do it again.

This helps burn in the setting so that its much more stable + you reduce the chance of absolutey destroying your video card and therefore destroying your warranty at the same time.

This is alot of typing and if you want help in overclocking your processor, i can give some hints on that but i'm typed out for now.

Yea thanks for the info.. im not goin to overclock my pc.. and my temp on my video card when playing games doesnt go over 64-65c.. Ive been watchin that.. Main reason i am relentless is because i am experiencing lag when playin bf2.. it plays like my 7300le did..
