Need help with selling my PS3

I want to sell my PS3 and get a Slim. I was planning on bringing it to GS so I guess I can't do a transfer?

I want to save anything important on the HDD, but not sure what I should save. I was also wondering if there's anything I need to get off of the machine before selling it like personal info or whatever.

is your ps3 backward com? Why not sell it on ebay?

u can swap out the harddrives or save it on a usb flash drive

Just make sure you format before you trade it in. I just picked up a used 160GB Slim from Gamestop and it still had the previous owner's PSN account, complete with a year of PSN+ and $11 still on the account. I'm also pretty sure that there is still a valid credit card on this account too. Luckily for him, someone who's honest bought it, since Gamestop obviously doesn't bother to wipe systems before selling them.

No it's the 2 usb 80gb without BC. Amazon gives $177 for it, but they can screw you over and give only $150 or $53. Gamestop gives $125 with no hassle. Ebay cheapest BIN one listed right now is $192 before any fees or shipping, which would bring it down to about $150.

The store is supposed to wipe the hard drive; whoever was supposed to do it will get fired if they catch him.

I kinda figured that some GS stores obviously don't format the systems when they take them in. I did a quick format when I traded my 40gb in a few years ago, but I believe I made sure to wipe out my sign-in/password. They could still get on my PSN name but not online with it unless they knew my password.;)

Where do you see $175 trade in? I'm seeing $130 for all PS3s (and only $110 if you don't have the original packaging).

Is there anything I should do besides this before selling my PS3:
1) copy save data
2) set to not auto sign in
3) deactivate the PS3
4) format the HDD (does it matter if you choose format or restore to factory settings?)
5) I don't know how to remove my PSP and PC from the PS3.

Weird, it's now showing $127 for me now too, but before I'm positive it was showing $177.

I saw $177 a few days ago, BUT that was for complete, in MINT condition with original box.

You should definitely format the HDD before taking it in there. I did a quick format after removing and unclicking 'save my password' from my PSN sign in info.

So even if they sign onto the PS3 with my name(which was still on the system after the quick formatting), they couldn't sign into PSN under my name on there because the password wasn't on the system anymore.
