Then definately not Dead Rising. The save system was ackward and time consuming, from what I've heard here.

Yep. If you are looking for pick up and play fun without tying you down for long stretches, LSWII is the only option.

about how long is it and is the online good
no online and it'll take awhile its a fun game.
so none have online this is making it even tougher to choose.

Having owned both, I'd take Oblivion over Dead Rising.

Both games are good, but Oblivion offers much more length and avoids repetition much better than Dead Rising.

As for Lego Star Wars, I haven't played it so I really can't comment about its quality.

Another vote for LSW II. If you grab a friend and play it's really fun. It's perfect for your attention span and schedule like you mentioned earlier.

All three of those give you amazing bang for your buck. But I'm guessing you'd get the most enjoyment from Oblivion--I think that's the one game that every 360 owner needs to play.
play the demos of Dead Rising and LSWII
I'm not sure that's an option for him, as he doesn't have the system yet.

If there is a Gamecrazy nearby, he can test out the games on an in-store system, though. They still do that, right?

As a guy who has beaten all 3 games I would say honestly you can't go wrong with any of the 3. I loved oblivion for almost 100 hours and I might go back and do some more side-quests and stuff. Dead Rising is a lot of fun but does have a few problems. The save system is kinda crappy but isn't as big a deal as some people might say it is. The story is great and the gameplay is solid. Lego Star Wars II is a ton of fun and should be played by any Star Wars fan. I got about 20 hrs out of LSW's II but if you want to complete it 100% then you are looking at 30-50 hrs.

*sigh* If I HAVE to rank them on fun factor and bang for your buck then I will rank them at:

1. Oblivion
2. Dead Rising
2-A. Lego Star Wars II

I can't choose between DR and LSW's II, they are equal to me. You can't go wrong with any of these 3 games. Have fun making a decision. :)

All three are fine games, I've got them all but would have to tend toward Oblivion.

Dead Rising and LSWII are good but after the initial novelty has worn off both can get a bit repetitive. I loved them both for the first weekend but don't play either all that much now.

Oblivion has loads to do, several different ways to play the game (stealth character, fighter, magic user) and never gets boring IMO.

But you'll be fine with either of those three.
