My current 26" viewsonic just got a vertical pink line on the left 1/3 rd of the screen so I want to replace it. I use it mostly for gaming, browsing, and reading office docs. I also have it hooked up to my 360 and PS3 by HDMI. Right now I use a HDMI splitter for the consoles and have a separate pair of speakers that has 2 inputs, one for each console, so all I have to do is set my monitor to HDMI and set the HDMI switcher to whichever console to play. I use the DVI input for the PC and a pair of speakers hooked up to the sound card.

I'm looking for a monitor similar to this with DVI and HDMI about 23-24" and prefer Viewsonic, Samsung, or Dell. I think all 23" and above are 1920 x 1080 now but if not, that's another requirement. If anyone also has any suggestions to simplify my sound setup, I 'd appreciate it.

I'd actually recommend getting an Asus monitor. The quality is pretty much on par with the ones you listed, but they tend to be a bit cheaper. Check Newegg.com, that'll likely be the best place to get a monitor.

Depending on how long you can stand to wait before getting another monitor:

This is the slightly newer version of what I have been using for a couple years. 1 DVI, 1 DMI, 1 VGA and the picture is quite good considering. Ive got PC running through DVI, Xbox360 through VGA and PS3 through HDMI.

I don't know if I could recommend it at the current price, but it seems to go on sale for $180 at least once a month or so (it was on sale for that I think 2 or 3 days ago).

That's a pretty nice one. I was looking at this one from Yoda's recommendation for Asus

Although I'd hate to order a monitor without actually seeing it or playing with the controls. How is the connection for the xbox through VGA? I never knew that was possible until you mentioned it.

And is 5ms response time ample for gaming? I've seen some Samsung and Viewsonic with 2ms or less. Dell's got this one for sale today at $160 after a coupon

XBOX looks great through VGA. Same image quality as HDMI. Just have to be sure to go to display settings on the xbox and pick extended or expanded reference levels or what have you to make the colors pop.

5ms seems fine to me. I've not noticed any ghosting or anything.

$160 seems a steal for that monitor. I may end up ordering one or two for my new build, thanks for that. Pretty much the same as the one I linked only not LED-Backlit.

The ASUS monitors seem good as well. I really only lean towards the dell due to past experiences and the fact that I have an account with them and can impulse buy and pay later. I also like the bezel/button layout on the Dell better.

Also of note, the dell monitors do not have VESA mounts, which is unfortunate. So you cannot use any of the swing arm style mounts.

Here's another I found from the Dell ebay store for an extra $30 but includes LED. I say an extra $30 because this has free shipping for $220, while the other is $160 but only allows me to get overnight shipping for $30 where I live. So $190 with no LED or $220 with LED.
I picked up my 23.5" AOC monitor from Costco for $150. 1920X1080.
It has DVI but no HDMI,sorry.
How is that one? They have it at my local Costco and I searched to find out Envision was the original name of AOC and didn't think too highly of their products before.

But yeah, I need HDMI for my consoles.

Apart from but it being wobbly if you bumb it or nudge it, it is a solid monitor. Resolution is nice, frame rate is ok, 5ms, 60 HZ.
Coming from a 17 monitor, I feel I got my $ worth.
I bought this last month:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RJUSO0

It's the 23" ASUS VH232H. It's got VGA, DVI, and HDMI. I have my PS3 and PC hooked up to it. I have no complaints; it can run 1080p with no problem.
Does it switch easily between sources? My current Viewsonic switches between DVI and HDMI okwhen both are on, but sometimes switching the source when it was turned off on another previous source never changes. So I'd have to turn on both sources to be able to switch.
