Need PS3 Headset advice

CAGiversary!
Can anyone please tell me a decent inexpensive wired headset that does both chat and in-game audio? If there is one for $30 that would be perfect, but I guess if I have to I could settle for $50

I've read reviews on all the expensive ones and I can't justify spending money on TB or Tritton when I see plenty of people saying they just randomly die. Also, I've never been too good at taking care of headsets. I always forget I'm wearing them.

Also, what is it that makes a headset compatible with in-game audio? I don't understand why a plantronics headset won't work.

Thanks

A USB computer headset will work, a USB to headphone/mic jack converter might as well. Another person posted success with a USB - 3.5mm converter worked for them but that's only for voice chat.

Audio is sent through either optical, SCART, HDMI or analog. Almost every gaming headset out there either taps the analog audio or the optical. Turtle Beach sets are pretty cheap but the quality on gaming headsets is in the shitter right now.

I currently have a usb headset and that doesn't work. I've read that it's like that with all USBs. I know that I can plug a headset into the back of the tv to get audio that way but then I don't know how to get the mic to work.

From my experiance it doesn't matter what brand it is, you will get the same audio quality. I've had both Turtle Beach and Tritton, my prefer choice at the end is Turtle beach because TB offer more bass boost then the tritton. Also the reliability of both are the same, both is 50/50 chance of getting a bad one, do your research well before you decide, i did the same thing before i made my final decision. Far as price concern you will be spending about 60-90 bucks on a good headset.

Last week Kmart had a deal with the new GOW game + nice Sony 7.1 headset for 99.99 (basically got GOW Origins free) the headset is amazing I usually hate big ones but have been playing games and watching blu's with them fantastic. plus work with your computer.

I wanted to add a mic to my setup of a turtle beach DSS + headphones, so I found this as a solution, It's a External USB Sound Card (can use basically ANY pc headset with mic & headphone plugs)

I found this one super cheap less it's now up to $2.41 but it was cheaper when I ordered it

and it worked for adding a mic (other videos on Youtube showing it working for entire headset) Just plug it into usb slot and head set into it

It is an External USB Sound Card Adapter (Amazon Link)
