Sounds decent. Elite's are usually easy to find new for about $250-$260 though. Controller's go for around $35 anytime, and Game runs about $40.

So you're saving about $25 buying used. But you may have to wait a couple weeks to find all those deals and compile all the parts.

EDIT: I'd just look for an Arcade and buy a 60GB HD then a couple games. You'll be cheaper in the long run anyways.
 
If he's a good friend you trust and needs the money, I say go for it. If not, just be patient and build a collection from scratch. Controllers and L4D2 are cheap and plentiful and if you're really aching for that RE5 bundle, that'll cost ya a little more so better to put the funds into the system you really want then build around that later.

You can always buy more controllers/games, but once you buy the system your options become much more limited if it's not the one you truly want.
 
Ask if he registered his console online, or if you can register it for free warranty. Warranty against RROD and E74 is your biggest issue here, since you're buying a used console.
