Need some tv help.

The VGM

Banned
Alright, I got this new 14" LCD. It has composite, rca and s-video ports on the back. I read the manual and it says it supports 480i and 480p. I would like to know a few things.

1. Which is better, 480i or p?
2. Component or S-Video? (Component is my guess)
3. What cords would I need for PS2, Xbox, GC, and DC?

Thanks

Wrong forum. (Unless you bought it at E3.... nah, it'd still be the wrong forum, even then...)

480p. 'i' for interlaced means you draw 1/2 the lines in a single pass, 'p' for progressive-scan means essentially that you draw the whole screen in a single run.

Composite is the same as RCA, it means one cable for video (yellow) & 2 for audio (red & white). Do you instead mean component, aka RGB, which is 3 cables for video? That is usually better than S-Video, but it can be worse, depending on the source and the TV. Best bet is to try both and see.

Fixed. And I thought it was realted to general gaming, since I'm talking about hooking up all these systems to my new TV.

You're only going to get 480p signals with the component cable.

As said above, it can be worse than S-video, especially if the game doesn't support 480p. Most monitors/HDTV's "upgrade" the signal to a faux-480p and in the end, it just looks worse.

Sorry, my bad. I misread the forum title and thought it was only about E3.
