Can anyone recommend me some cheapass RAM? I have a 256 mb ram in it right now and I just installed a new 80 GB hd and forgot about the ram and it's slow as fucking hell.

I'm also looking to put in a new video card since it still has the original card that came with the dell that I got a few years ago. I'm not looking to play Doom 3 or HL 2, so I don't need the newest thing on the market. I just need something to let me play some recent good games.

That's pretty much it for now, but if you want to, you could recommend some other cheapass upgrades for my pc.

go to dell.com look up your model and then comeback and tell us what kind of ram your system can use/uses.

Then people can go out and look for the cheapest for u.

Also how many slots for ram you have will help too.

i have a dell too, and i heard upgrading their ram can be really hard. will the ram on that kingston site work?

You can find a Radeon 9800 Pro for under 200 on newegg. Decent price, and it'll easily run Doom 3 on high, provided you have a decent system otherwise.

try going to www.crucial.com and the select the make and model of your computer and then it will tell you how much the board will support as well as the speed and so on.... they used to have this little tool called belarc advisor or something that was real handy because it spit out all the specs of your pc into an easy to print web page

I'm not really looking to play games like Doom 3, I'm not much of an FPS gamer. I'm more interested in RTS's and the Star Wars games like KOTOR and Galaxies. Less than $150 would be good, and around $100 would be great.

that looks to be a very solid graphics card. the stats on that are very high, and for only a 100 bucks that's a good deal for a top of the line card. radeons have had good performance records with my memory. a friend of mine had an 8600, and it runs quite nicely.
