I played it alot as a kid in the various arcades. Samurai Shodown 2 is a great game, that still plays fresh to this day. I used to play it at the Brooklyn Center,MN arcade when it came out, and one guy who played there was so good, he could beat you with Ukyo even when you knocked the wpn out of his hand!
I bought a Neo AES from a kid in St. Paul in 1995 who sold it to me for I think $250-300 with World Heroes II, The Super Spy, 2 sticks, a memory card and King of Monsters. He was gonna use the money to buy a computer. I later bought Samurai Shodown from a store in Bloomington that was run by the guy who used to own Raven Games. Had him special order me Samurai Shodown II for $200 when it came out around 1995. Best value for a game I ever spent. Got an MVS converter and got it modded in '02. Through the years, I picked up:
League Bowling
Samurai Shodown 3-5 Special
King of Fighters '94, 98,99, '00,01
Nam '75
League Bowling
Sengoku 3
Money Puzzle Exhanger MVS
Kizuna Encounter MVS
Magical Drop II MVS
Aero Fighters 2
Super Dodge Ball conversion
Metal Slug X, 3, 4
Dunk Dreams
Last Blade
Burning Fight
Ghost Pilots
Mutantion Nation
Twinkle Star Sprites MVS
World Heroes II
World Heroes Jet
King of Monsters
SNK Vs Capcom Chaos
I've kept many games and sold a few through the years, but I don't collect it anymore. I know several people who have them and play them, even a few people who have complete collections.
Great system, but crazy expensive to collect for, especially if you're into AES.
The most expensive game (English version Kizuna Encounter AES) is right behind Stadium Events as the most expensive video game in existance, with under 5 copies made, with a price well into the thousands.
The last arcade auction in the Twin cities had a 4 slot and a bunch of games in it that were worth more than what they guy paid for for like $300.
