NEOGEO Pocket Color Console in Blue $29.99@Amazon
What's the retail price? Like what does it usually go for?
They originally retailed for $70. On Ebay, a new system usually goes for around $30 - $40. The Platinum Sonic Bundle goes for around $40 - $50.

EB and Gamestop sell refurbished systems with 6 games for $70 but with the games so cheap on EBay, this is probably a better deal since the system is new.

I really don't know because they haven't been produced in like 5 years and SNK went out of business (only to come back again in some form or another). I'm assuming these are new.. Ebay has them for around the same price, so I guess this isn't really a good deal after all... unless you really want the blue one as certain colors are hard to find

Recently some companies have begun taking in stocks of unsold and refurbished NGPs and selling them in bundles like http://www.eplayplay.com but I think the stuff Amazon is selling is old unsold stock. because I bought an adapter for mine from them and it was still sealed with the little hologram tape seal.
Thanks for the info....I think I'll pass. Thats $30 bucks I can put towards the PSP at the end of the year.
good idea.. but then again the PSP is scheduled to be out at the end of next year not this year. very tempting deal, if not for the tons of unplayed ps2 games i have i would have jumped into this too..

Sorry dude you're misinformed...page 28 of this months EGM states..."the late 2004 release date would pit Nintendo's new system (Nintendo DS) up against Sony's Playstation Portable (PSP), also due out worldwide this fall."

Also page 46 has the first screenshot of a PSP game. It is coming out in November so start putting away for it now.

The egm picture you saw was the april fools joke this year. Look at the total time posted for the race: 4-01-04
the PSP is coming out in 2005. Check any gaming site and they all say the same thing. Sony admitted this.
REALLY??? Well here is a little nugget I got from www.lik-sang.com that contains a quote from Sony's SCE Vice President:

Release Date

"Sony initially announced its worldwide launch plans and did set up a targeted release date on November of 2004. Approximately a month ago, Chris Deering from SCEE (Sony's European branch) was confident on that date and was still emphasizing the worldwide simultaneous launch. A couple of weeks later, SCE vide-president Saeki Matsatuka stated to famous Japanese magazine Famitsu that the release date would probably have to be revised from November till the middle of December. No doubt that if they can catch it, Sony might try to use the highly symbolical 3rd of December, day of the PlayStation 10th Anniversary celebrations in Japan. Western journalists are now concerned about the simultaneous worldwide launch, which has not been re-confirmed since the Famitsu interview."

Here's ANOTHER site that has it being releases in 2004

"Sony did not bring a prototype of the PSP to E3, nor did it estimate the price of the PSP. The target release date is the fourth quarter of 2004."

http://portables.about.com/cs/gadgets/a/handhelds_e3_3.htm

I mean wether or not it ACTUALLY comes out by the end of 2004 is up in the air when it comes to new hardware it's always iffy....but as I said in my other post this months AND last months Electronic Gaming Monthly states it's coming out at the end of the year.

I am interested though in seeing the info you found about it coming out in 2005, if you could post a link that would be great.

Thanks. I had been thinking about picking up one of these, since most of the games seem good (as opposed to the pablum the GBA gets), but I couldn't bring myself to drop $40-$50 on a used system. $30 is just right. :)

The U.S. release date is now early 2005, sometime before March 31 (Japanese release date is still the end of 2004). This is new information, which is why EGM, a print magazine, did not know about it in time for its April issue.

Well there supposed to show of the prototype of the ps at this years E3. i cant wait to be there to see it. Among all the other stuff

I doubt PSP is coming out this year in US, it will probably come out in Japan first (before any games do according to one strange rumor). You can't really believe all the sites giving release dates. Look at Halo 2, how many sites swore that it would be out by now. Only Sony really knows when PSP is coming out, and thats not taking into account other factors such as other competition, hardware costs, acts of God, etc.

All 5 of those sites are reporting what SONY themselves said, 4th quarter 2004 for japan and 1st quarter 2005 North America they all say the same thing. If it dosent happen that means Sony slipped up again and has to explain it to their share holders.

The best anyone can do is listen for what the most recent release date is untill it comes out but it's foolish to take the word of a print magazine with a 3 month lead time over a daily updated gaming website.
