NES/SNES emulators for DS
Do you need a flashcart for these?
I dont know a single thing about it. I just figured I'd post the info for the fellow CAGers.

you would need a flash cart to store the files (for now) and you would need either a 1) PassMe, 2) WiFiMe, or 3) FlashMe (which requires WiFiMe first). the best choice in my opinion is wifime (and maybe flashme afterwards)... just that you need the right kind of wireless nic (that uses the rt2500 or rt2560 chipset)

there aren't any DS flash carts yet (that i know of)

Seems pretty cool.

I hope they get SNES emulation up and running. I want portable Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, or FF4/6

Portable Dragon Warrior 4 on NES emulation rules, but some portable SNES RPG love would be even better.

PS No portable version of Dragon Warrior 4 exists, and I do own the original NES cart. :D Not that it makes it legal, but it makes it moral IMO.

I thought the DS games were just a simple secure memory cards like they used in camera's? I could be wrong as I never looked in to it.
From what I understand, you can use this to run the emulators.
Thanks this is interesting.

If I only had 56k could I still use the wireless card (if purchased) to DL to my DS?

yes, your 56k has nothing to do with using the wireless card to send info to your DS.

No they are different.

I did some reading up.

SnesDS is up and running decent at this point, games are running full speed with sound, but with a lot of graphical glitches and not a lot of full compatibility yet (most games still not working/crashing). It's a port of SNESadvance without a lot of tweaking at this point.
speak for yourself. I would like MAME, but also NES.
i didn't mean to imply no NES, just that it's a given for every system to have nes emulation these days.

dont get neoflash... the thing is going to be dead soon once a good non-proprietary, not over priced ds flash cart comes out... there's a whole lot of "drama" going on in the DS scene where neoflash is working together with a pirating group GST (who are believed to be one and the same) where GST is releasing modified roms that ONLY work on neoflash kits, not on anything else...

im personally not going for these neoflash things...

back when i bought a 128mbit one for my gba, it wsa going for 90-100 bux... for a 128mbit... the prices (im hoping) have dropped since the larger size ones are more common now... but i wouldnt be surprised at such high prices.
 people actually buy these things?

how much is the average GBA flash cart?
Amazing what some people are willing to spend to not pay for games, eh?

Although, the ability for homebrew stuff is really intriguing to me.
