Netflix coming to Canada!
Yeah I figured my post was going to be inaccurate, but I was way too lazy to do some research beforehand, and I figured another CAG would put me in my place if I was wrong heh, thanks!
Well, I may have spoken a bit soon. I guess there is a bandwidth limit, but it is not specifically stated. In the "EXCESSIVE USE OF BANDWIDTH" section of the TOS (https://productsandservice.bellaliant.net/PS/nb/english/common/termsconditions_fibreop.jsp), it seems that 250GB is implied:

As a guideline, in our experience typical residential bandwidth usage tends to be well within the range of 250GB per month.

And now that Rogers has responded with their bandwidth limit changes (the fargin' iceholes), I may start shopping around. I canceled my cable service over a year ago (and don't miss it a bit), so I dislike the idea of getting caught in the middle of a provider war over a format (video) that I care very little about.
Brutal. ISP's need to get with the times and update their backbone. It's the only way to properly keep up with the inevitable coming of mass digital distribution on all our entertainment.
All they are doing is trying to get people to pay more for internet. IF evryoryon paid extra lt, theservice would be the same. it has nothing toodwwhe sytm's backbone. It has tto do with them trying to wring more money out of people.
Whys and wherefores aside, it's a pretty big deal. If Netflix service turns out to be good enough up here, I'm going to talk to the wife about cancelling cable and moving our phone and internet from Shaw to Teksavvy/Voip.
Teksavvy offers regular telephone service too, so you don't have to go with crappy VoIP phone.

I switch to Teksavvy 2 years ago and have had no problems. I also use them for the phone service just because call display is affordable. Have since then switch 2 neighbours from bell.

Not surprised at the move by Rogers. They're doing to make up for the losses they'll lose from people not going to Rogers Video and sucking up the extra bandwidth.
