Netflix Streaming Thread 2.0
Season 3 of Sons of Anarchy is on there. I doubt you will season 4 until a few months after the DVD/Blu Ray is out.
I've already seen season three and four of SOA but I went ahead and hunted it down myself... im lazy I want it to just be there on Netflix haha.

I wish Netflix would get more of those screensaver DVDs

I love the virtual fireplace but how about some virtual aquarium, lava lamp, and stripper silhouette vids.
Rewatching Chapelle show.

10 years later it's still hilarious.
And still better than 99% of what's out there today.

Byaahhh!
Ive seen the disappearance of Alice Creed I really liked it. I know what you mean when you say its hard to get people to watch things.. I love foreign movies and its really hard to get people to watch the trilogy Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Oldboy, and Lady Vengeance. I know they are on the darker side but they are really good movies. Another excellent movie is Ichi the Killer... people just don't want to read subtitles or something I'm a self professed subtitle whore. I think people should really open thier eyes to things that arent just American there is a whole world out there why miss out.
Amen brother.

What really makes blood shoot out of my eyes is hearing people say things like "There are just no good movies anymore, it's all remakes and sequels!" or "There is nothing good on netflix streaming!."

Bullshit.

Have you seen Oldboy? Castaway on the Moon? Wake Wood? I saw the Devil? Elite Force? IP Man? Red Cliff? Silmido? Chaser? The Ward?

"No, I never saw any of those advertised on my slurpee cup and I don't like to read"

Then STFU and go back to Angry Birds.

Starz is pulling all content at the end of the day tomorrow. I listed a sampling of titles that will be pulled You can see all of the Starz titles on Netflix.com (I'm not typing up a list, there's 22 pages of titles). Netflix will be pretty terrible in March.

I alternate between pretty happy, and pretty frustrated with the Netflix streaming content. It seems like nothing note worthy has been added for months, and now they're losing more content. I was trying to find a movie for the kids the other night, and it was really tough, since they've seen about 5-10 of the decent kid's movies over the last 6 months.

REALLY hoping they step up their game, because they have a huge streaming customer base. Customer's might be annoyed enough to cancel. I'm starting to swing back to that side now.

Yikes. This is disconcerting to say the least. I was hoping by now Netflix would be adding more and more streaming content every day but this is clearly not the case. It is such an amazing service but it needs content.

My only (perhaps naive) hope is that Netflix has been holding back content in anticipation of the Starz loss. The updating has been sparse in the past 2-3 months, so maybe they're just holding a lot of it to release as a huge glut of content to counter-balance the loss?

I hope. God, I hope.

I doubt that, 007. I'm sure they are scrambling to either A.) renegotiate the Starz deal or B.) try and find another supplier.

I'm hoping they actually find a different company to deal with, maybe then we will see a massive influx of new content like we did last year at one point.

If they don't, I could see this as a major downfall for the company that really put instant streaming (into people's homes) on the map.

I know HBO has their own thing going with HBO GO and all that, but it would be pretty sweet to see Netflix cut a deal with Home Box Office to run their shows' past seasons on streaming. #wishlist

You answered your own question. HBO Go is in place, Netflix will never get their shows.

Obviously... It wasn't a question, but thanks for playing.
HBO GO pisses me off, you can't run it through HDMI out on a device.
...are you sure? I'm fairly certain I ran it through my Droid X, onto a hotel HDTV during my last business trip (using an optional cable and a free HDMI-out app). I'm 100% sure I did for Netflix, but really thought I did with HBO Go too.

It definitely wasn't elegant, but it worked.
I don't mind the separate HBOGO app but I really wish they would get their shit together for the 360.
Yeah, is there any new info on that?

I started to watch it the other day while my 18 month old was napping, but he woke up early and came running into the living room so I turned it off. I don't want to spoil Elmo for him this early, he doesn't even know Santa Claus yet.

It really, really, really annoys me that you can click Starz play and click "Sortable list" and you can arrange everything in alphabetical order, but they don't have that for instant queue. *sigh*

I'm also kinda pissed that Virgin Suicides is getting pulled bc of the Starz deal - it's available in HD on Netflix. It's out on blu in France but nowhere else, and I'm pretty sure that it's region locked.

lol good dad you are let him have some magic in his life before reality kicks his castle over. oddly enough i was thinking about that with all the kids hed visit with the puppet and none of them seemed put off by the giant black man his is arm stuffed up elmo's puppet ass. theyd hug him and talk to him like he was real. when i was a kid i always wanted to go to sesame street to hang out with oscar and maybe get some time with maria ( she was freakin hott).

eh.. read the OP again tomorrow morning and it'll be correct :)

Once I thought about it, I realized this doesn't really bother me. More content is always good, certainly, but it dawned on me that unless there is something I really, really want to watch, I generally avoided the Starz Play stuff because of the crappy quality. That logo in the corner might as well have said "Keep moving, nothing to see here!" for me.

If this leads to us replacing some of this stuff with non-sub-DVD quality, it's a win.

i really wish theyd beef up the cartoon section bloody hell theres so many 80s and 90s toons id love to see up there and i wish theyd do something to add them.maybe make up a Saturday morning cartoon section.

Haven't had the streaming for a few months now, but the disc service is starting to annoy me with long waits on new releases on blu ray again. Had 5 or so newer movies at the top on long wait today that got skipped over. Including a couple like Drive and The Help that have gotten skipped a couple of times prior.

In the past long waits went to extremely frequent renters, the idea being that they were probably making copies. Case in point a friend of my wife's, who makes copies of every movie they get from netflix. I always had to laugh when they mentioned that they had long waits for everything. LOL. But that's not an accusation at all. I've actually got some moderate wait DVDs, and I've *never* seen that before. I think they are cutting down on the number of copies they acquire.

Yeah, it has to be reduction in copies as I'm not a heavy renter.

I have one disc out at a time and at most go through two a week, more often I get through one a week only. Sometimes longer when I'm out of town for work etc.

I just don't think they order enough copies of things on Bluray as most all Blurays are hard to get the first couple of weeks, and then fine after that. DVDs are usually always fine, but I don't like watching stuff in SD, especially when I'm paying an extra $2 a month for Bluray access.
HBO GO will be available April 1st on Xbox 360, according to Gizmodo.
Terrific. Been eager to watch Eastbound and Down from the start.

It'll only be for people who have HBO through their cable/satellite provider, so you're out of luck if you don't subscribe to the regular channel.

Yeah I know that, I fall under that catagory. I just haven't seen it yet cause HBO scatters their on demand content. GO has everything.

HBO go seems retarded. From what I understand you have to still pay for so many things in order to have that service. Is there a way to buy just that service and have it not connected to a cable provider, internet provider etc etc?

Not that I'm aware of but if you get HBO you can get the app unless you have Comcast or Time Warner or something who block access. There's nothing extra to pay for though above and beyond your cable bill.

If you have cable, and HBO on your cable plan, you can access HBO go. Don't understand how that's "retarded".

Some people don't have cable, and probably would pay $15 for HBO Go from Hulu/Netflix.

Yeah, it's not retarded really. Just seems like they're losing money from people who've ditched cable/satellite who would pay a monthly fee for HBO Go on it's own.

I don't want/need a cable package. I just want to buy HBO but you can't without also getting a bunch of channels you don't want and spending at least $50 a month in the process.

I see your point but that's not what the service is. Maybe at some point in the future HBO ends up having a separate stream business but they would most likely have to totally split from cable services to make them happen.

Netflix works fine, HBO GO will give you a warning asking you to unplug the cable.
