Never ordering from Gamestop.com again!!!

CAGiversary!
Ok, so a couple weeks ago Gamestop had a buy 1 get 1 deal on used games. So I ordered Call of Cthulu and Ninja Gaiden Black. Well, I got my order in the mail today and it included a complete copy of Call of Duty and Ninja Gaiden Black, disc only (and yes, I know they don't guarantee cases but it still sucks). Their customer support was helpful, and they're paying for me to ship Call of Duty back to them but this is still a pain in my ass that i don't need.

fuck Gamestop.com

You knew the risks going in, customer service was helpful and they are paying to ship the games back. What the fuck more do you want? I am sure they are going to miss your business.

Calm down. The names are similar, close in proximity of each other alphabetically ... it's an understandable mistake. While I understand your frustration (I would be too), at least they're paying to fix their mistake, right?

Just go to the damn store and buy ninja gaiden black its 30 dollars new. That way we don't have to listen to you bitch, they warned you on the site that you probably won't get a case or manual.

Yeah, you're way overreacting. They're paying for the mistake. Stop whining.

And Call of Cthulhu is a FPS based off of H.P. Lovecraft's legendary Cthulhu Mythos, a horror series that deals with Things Man Was Not Meant To Know. Almost every single human character in it ends up dead or insane.

Oh, and just as a parting gift....

I have ordered three times from Gamestop.com. Two of the times were bad experiences. I love ebgames.com, though, picking up Zelda: Four Swords and Metroid Prime 2 for $15 each was awesome! It's gonna blow when gamestop finally takes eb over.

The only problem I have w/Gamestop.com is that they raised their value shipping to $2.99, which effectively kills any advantage I had ordering new games from them versus just buying in store locally. I'll still consider them if there's a pre-order gift that looks interesting.

Otherwise, they have great customer service in my experience and I've never had an issue with them.

Um, I thought they were already merged?

This has happend to me before too on that exact same deal. I had to send the game back about 2 times for them to get me good, working games. It all worked out in the end, but it took a while to resolve, about a month or more. I got Super Smash Bros Melee and Zelda Collectors Edition out of it though.
Um, I thought they were already merged?
The deal was approved, but I don't think that the merger is complete yet. The EB where I go, seems to think that it will be complete sometime after the first of the year.

So far, I hate the merger. I'm waiting for Destroy All Humans! to drop in price. It was down to $34.99 at EB last week (at least here since they have about 15 copies). I went to pick it up this week and the price was back up to $44.99. The store said that Gamestop is now forcing their used prices on EB. Don't know if that's true or not, but it sucks if its true.

This merger is going to be horrible for used games. There won't be any competition for Gamestops anywhere close to where I live, so the prices will always be high. That and the people who work at the Gamestop here have the personalities of rocks.

I hate Gamestop.

End of rant.

What, I can't be frustrated? Sure, there are worse things that can happen, but I don't remember the last time Amazon or anywhere else I've ordered from online had "human error" that messed up my order. Yeah, customer service was helpful, but don't I have a reasonable expectation to NOT have to deal with them?

Like I said, I'm not really complaing about the case.

Very wrong, they are one in the same.

If you work for one, your discount is good at the other.
They are the same company, just differnt signs, and they still kinda do a few things different, give them time.

Yeah all EB prices are supposed to be steadily changing to match Gamestop's.

As far as used goes, just buy from Gamefly.com.... their stuff is usually in perfect/near perfect condition and complete. Destroy all humans is $19.99 used from them. If you're worried about shipping just wait for them to have one of their free shipping deals.

Personally I'll be buying exclusively from Gamefly if Gamestop takes away EB's stackable coupons and refuse to guarantee a complete game.

You can be frustrated. Assuming your frustration is perfectly justified.

In your case, its not. There was a simple mistake and Gamestop.com remedied the situation. Its not like the company told you "Well, both games have the word 'Call' in them therefore they're the same game."

And if you haven't had many orders screwed up by human error, congrats.

Customer service did their job. If you didn't want to deal with them, suck it up and keep Call of Duty.

Those bastards! Fixing their mistake and paying for it without questions! Such ass holes! The nerve! :sigh:

Agreed, I am really not looking forward to the merger. I have never gotten a great deal at Gamestop. By great I mean something like brand new games for $2.99 and $4.99 like Culdcept for $2.99 new. The only time I have ever seen new games for $4.99 at Gamestop it is junk including Kabuki Warriors and Fantavision or old sports games.

Plus EB has way better trade in deals especially when they have a trade in (this many games) and get a new game for free like the 3 for 1 PSP game deal in the spring.

Could we get a new forum just for people to bitch about EB/Gamestop? It would really clear out a lot of the clutter.

Man, if they do that I'll be a BitterAssGamer. That's my only fear concerning the merger/buy-out.

If there's a good deal at gamestop you'll end up paying for it in one way or another. Other than a few concert dvds that I found at a B&M I have'nt bought anything major from gamestop in about 2 years.

You have every right to be pissed off. At least Gamestop is handling the situation and not charging for shipping. I'm just baffled that your copy of NGB, a brand-new game, and people have lost the instruction booklet and case?!? WTF? I know it isn't guaranteed, but come on! If this is what we can expect at the turn of 2006, we're in trouble.

you don't have to read his post and if you are really bothered by it you certainly shouldn't post in the thread.

This is a legitimate thread topic. I have never order used games from GS because of the warnings I have gotten on CAG.

Thanks OP!

You can return Ninja Gaiden Black and try your luck that the next one will be complete, even though they don't guarantee it, they will take it back. Just say that its in poor condition, most of their used games are.

You have to play games with Gamestop to get complete games sometimes.

Odd, when they sent me the wrong game they let me keep it and sent out the correct game.

EDIT: I still don't know what you're complaining about though, people make mistakes (this site thrives on them).

I bought a used FF9 from them online and the 4 discs came from 3 different places. two had blockbuster labels that were imprinted in the discs, and I forgot about the other two, but they were in a disarray. also, the discs didn't even work. but, I went to the one down the street and traded it for a working copy with no problems

Thanks man, I didn't think I was that far out of line. I think I'm within reason to expect better service up front than this, regardless of how good the support is.
