Starting Nov. 2nd BBOnline will change in a very awesome way.

You will now be able to drop off movies sent to your door at any local Blockbuster instead of mailing it in. Once BB checks them in (right in front of you might I add), you're online quene will be updated and you're next movie will be sent out. However, it gets better. You will be able to get ANY movie in the store right then and there for FREE. So what it means is you are essentially getting two-three times more of rentals each month!

Stores will also be receiving laptops to allow new members to join BBOnline and even cancel their NetFlix account.

To summarize:
1. Return BBOnline movie inside Envelope mailer to any BB location.
2. You're online quene gets updated and you're next movie is sent out.
3. You get a free rental in store right away as an extra bonus for dropping off you're movie.

This is all I needed to know. I'm sold!

Q. I signed up on the service at a time when you offered both game AND movie E-coupons. Will I still receive E-Coupons for free in-store game rentals?

A. Yes, you will still receive your 2 monthly in-store E-coupons, good for either movies or games. Also, now with BLOCKBUSTER Total Access you also can get free in-store movie rentals whenever you want, simply by bringing any online DVD sealed inside a return mailer into your local, participating BLOCKBUSTER store and exchanging it for a new movie. The bottom line: youre getting more, free, in-store movie rentals, at no extra charge and you still have your two free in-store game coupons, too.
I brought in 3, they told me to keep them til checkout or you can return them through the slot and you'll have credit on your account for each rental. You pick our your movies, check out, and they send out your next ones.
From the BBO website:

Q. Can I return my BLOCKBUSTER Online DVD by placing it in a drop box located outside a BLOCKBUSTER store?

A. Please keep your BLOCKBUSTER Online DVDs with you in the store until you're ready to check out. The drop box located outside the store is for in-store rental returns only.

If they do start charging for it, and it becomes not worth it, then Netflix will have my business again.

Ok n/m. Looking thru the FAQ's i see this.

"At this time, all current Online Plans are eligible for the free in-store rental program."

I got a question for anyone who turned in movies. How fast do they ship out your next picks via mail. I asked today in store and they are trying to tell me that they ship them out within an hour or two after i give them to the store.

I highly doubt it.

so if i was to belive them

I drop 3 movies off tomorrow @ 10am meaning 3 more movies will ship from BBO by 1pm TOmorrow

i hope its a little longer then that cause i would hate to pick up a movie instore and find out the same movie is shipping from BBO cause i didnt have enough time to change what movies i wanted after picking them up in store

I thought i read allow 2 days after dropping the movies off before seeing more movies sent ?

I was just wondering thanks

Your movies "immediately" get credited as being "back to the sender" when they are scanned in the store. Obviously, they are not shipping movies 24 hours a day. But they will be sent out as soon as the next shipment would ordinarily get done. For example, if you bring your dvd back to the store at 11:45 pm, you will get your movies in your que shipped out, I would say the very next morning.

If you brought them back at 10am, they'd get sent out in the mail that day. Remember, since the stores have laptops with internet access now, you can change your que right in the store. If you don't change your que fairly quickly, they will ship the next movie in your que, even if it is a dvd you just rented "free" with your "traded" online/mail dvd.

You can still get the free trial to try it out. Use the promo code 39326b

I had mine checked in at 10:03 am on Weds, and by the end of the day they sent out 2 more. It really just depends on what time you bring them in. Obviously anytime after 5pm or so; i wouldnt expect any new ones to be shipped out that day

How is your online queue supposed to look after returning the items to the store. I returned my online rentals to the store a few hours ago and see nothing in regards to a change with my online queue. The items are still showing checked out.

What a friggin rip off. I switched to the 4 movie rentals instead of the 2 video game rentals, and they changed my account to 1 coupon a month. If I would have stayed on the game rental program, I'd be getting 2 coupons a month. I'll PROBABLY get more rentals every month with the new program, but it really all depends on how often I make it into the store. It may actually be quicker to return them in the mail as I only like to go to town around once a week. Gas isn't cheap. Also, don't most people sign up for online rentals to AVOID going to the store? I know I'm glad to get movies in the mail when there's 2 feet of snow covering my car in the winter.

What?!? I thought you get 4 e-coupons a month (1 a week) if you chose to get rid of the game rentals. They changed it already? I would definitely call them up and raise hell.

Well considering it doesn't snow here and that there are two Blockbusters within 5-10 minutes of me, I think it would be better for me to never mail back a movie again.

i just got this code from my local store last week for a free month - 55740
they changed it this week to a two week free trial, but this code is still good for a free month...it worked for me! :D

WOW movies shipped out within 4 hours of return

First 3 movies shipped tuesday got them Thursday
Took those 3 movies back today at 1014am. just checked and the next 3 in my lineup shipped

now if i wanted to be a movie hog : ) i probally could get up to 48 movies per month for 18 bucks

I get movies on monday (3)
Return movies on Tuesday _ 3 in store (next 3 ship) = 6
I get the next 3 in the mail say Thursday = 9
take those back on friday and pick up another 3 =12

that is 12 movies per week for 4.50 that is nuts : )

though i probally run out of movies if i tried that i probally get 24 per month.

be interesting to see how long this stays free or even stays. Local manager at the BB I went to has already called in and complain about his store is going to go belly up. Just on Thursday night they gave out over 100 Free movies in one day --- NOthing was left in new releases at all. This will kill the instore rentals and i wouldnt be shocked if blockbuster online doubled their fees

No, it will kill their B&M stores, but their online will grow

i wonder how many will really take the movies back to the store. Most of the people were getting these movies VIA mail so they wouldnt have to go to the stores anymore. I even knew some people who tossed the weekly coupons in the trash.

they might see a massive amount come now but in 3 or 6 months i wonder how many will continue to bring the movies to the store .. I couldnt belive that over 90 copies of american haunting was gone LOL

Does anybody else absolutely hate the new Blockbuster website? It's so freaking SLOW! I don't know what the problem is. Everything is like a 10 second delay, especially when moving stuff around in your queue. Not to mention the layout is confusing and what happened to user reviews?

i cant even get it to work

This Total Access thing is possibly the BEST thing to happen to online movie rentals. If it stays free, Netflix could be in for some real trouble.
How's the availability online for the new release titles?
Really depends on what you are into.

For example, I had Lewis Black: Red, White & Screwed, Feast, Slither and American Dreamz on my list.

Lewis Black has been at the top of my queue since before it has come out (October 3) and it's still listed long wait.

Feast and Slither were under short wait but they shipped as soon as they came up on my queue.

American Dreamz is still under short wait.

My friend is a manager at Blockbuster, and he said that the only reason their store is doing this is because they get $3 for every total access transaction. So for mailing out the movie and allowing the customer one free rental, they get $3. He said that the district manager told him they are hoping for late fees to stack up and they hope to sell more of their overpriced candy and soda.

i predict a major loss here for blockbuster... almost all of the movies at the store I went to that are guaranteed in store rentals were gone (i would imagine due to the new total access promo, since I myself got hte last copies of american haunting, and nacho libre). If blockbuster has to just keep giving out coupons for the free guaranteed in stocks I wonder if they will ever eliminate that as a selling point of the store and just stick with total access.

Also, I was very upset how much they were trying to pimp total access to like every single customer renting something. Albeit, this was a Saturdat night... but still, this made the long move even slowly. Took me 7 minutes to get to the front of the line just to tell me that I needed to sign up for a new card since I havent been there in 3 months, as well as being exploited with clerks saying "see, this sir right here is exchanging his online movies to get free ones... it truely is the best deal ever".

I signed up for the free month trial, Blockbuster's selection is a little lackluster in comparison to Netflix... but they ship their movies extremely fast. My movies were sent out yesterday, and I got them today.

I'm going to watch them tonight, and exchange them for in-store rentals tomorrow. Do you get a free rental for each DVD?
^ 1 Blockbuster Online movie = 1 free in-store rental
Ok, just checking. Blockbuster has a habit of dicking around when it comes to coupons, I almost got into a fight with one of their employees because of it. I sometimes think that it's not just a coincidence that assholes often work there.

Guys, just use this code 06472B to activate free trial. Blockbuster's new site has trailers now, and 60,000 titles!!

What if this puts netflix out of business?
then all we have is BB and they jack up the prices on everything.
If you drop them in the outside slot and come in to get movies, you need a fork in your eye. I hated people like that.

You'll have a much easier time if you just hold on to them until you checkout.
even if I am not renting anything, I go inside to return movies/games because I have had a few experiences with BB saying I never returned my rentals. I would then have to argue with them until they took it off my account.

It also makes it easier to bring your returns with you to the counter when you checkout, they can just take your account info off the return, no need to remember your membership card.

Well I don't know if I trust them after today. I went to the counter to rent a movie and it wouldn't scan. Then the girl says oh this movie was never checked back in. I'm thinking, oh that must be nice for the person who rented it last.

I have actually had a few times where they said I hadn't returned something. They are pretty good about giving you the benefit of the doubt, though.
It also makes it easier to bring your returns with you to the counter when you checkout, they can just take your account info off the return, no need to remember your membership card.
Wouldn't your card just be in your wallet?
Wouldn't your card just be in your wallet?
I've had the Game Pass for over 3 years, so i havent needed my card in that time, however im not always switching games. Though they can look it up by your address, its just easier for them to hit the find button on the return.

Oddly enough, I just started working at blockbuster and can clarify how this works a little. You have to come into the store with you sealed mailer envelope, pick out the next movie you want, and then come to counter. Scan em both and off you go. If you return all three mailed movies you get 3 free rentals. The next movie in your queue is automatically sent out as well. The only thing the system doesn't do, is remove a movie from your queue that you are renting in store. It genuinely is a better deal then Netflix now. More movies and about 1.5 days cut off the shipping time with the instant scan. Oh and I asked about games in training, its in research and testing. I would think in the next year we might be seeing games on blockbuster.com. Any competition with gamefly and their ridiculous shipping times would be a blessing.

If anyone wants to sign up for blockbuster.com with a free 2-week trial, use store code 26019B in the promo section.

I have exchanged three movies with this Total Access program and none have cleared my queue yet. The earliest was last Friday and still has not left my queue. Still, they do say it could take 1-2 days to update.

Yup, that's exactly how it works. I returned 3 DVDs today, and got another 3 for free. Very awesome!

Now, hopefully Mission Impossible III is better than the second movie.

i was told and confirm today that your next movies in your line up are processing to ship as soon as you hand the movies to them. SO If you want other movies DO NOT PICK THe movies in your Q. YOU can not change your Q

Next 3 movies in line today
United 93
behind enemy lines 2
nacho something

Went to blockbuster today drop movies off at 1045am
Got home and switched up my Q at 1052am ( stopped past a friends house)

Switched my top 3 to

Running scared
CARS
united 93

only 7 mins after dropping movies off and it allowed me to change them .

I get home tonight to find

United 93
behind enemy lines 2
nacho something

has shipped. called and asked and they said as soon as the movies are return the next 3 movies in your line up are picked at that time. Even though it will take a few hours to get the ship out email those movies are picked as soon as you drop them off.

so make sure you dont have movies in your hand that is in your Q cause your going to have 2 of the same movie

Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of

9 movies via mail (hopefully they come by friday since no mail saturday)

So 10 days being a member and have 15 movies out

it would be nice if they did carry games (our localy blockbuster has gotten a ton of new games - usually they never got new games)

Butterfly Effect 2? Stick It?

You did good with Mission Impossible III, Nacho Libre, and Monster House though. :D

I have received and watched about 9 movies this week. I'm going to return the movies I have today, or tomorrow.

when your going though 6 movies every 2 days you got to watch some crap LOL

I mostly was playing my ds when stick it was running . Im still shocked monster house only was rated PG. That movie would of scared the hell out of me if i was say around 10

I dont know if its just me, or if they're getting swamped. But it seems that im getting throttled. i've had 4 open slots for 3 days, 90 titles on my queue as "available now". Kinda getting annoying.

^ My queue is often days behind what is really happening. I wouldn't worry what it says.

And Blockbuster apparently still stands behind their promise that they don't throttle.

Does anyone know if the rent HD-DVD's IN-STORE at BB? I couldn't find them, not sure if they would put them in a different location. Seemed easy enough for trading movies in though

hell do these stores sit on this movies and ship them back once a week or what. I return movies Last thursday 11/2

MI 3
scary movie 4
Butterfly effect 2

scary movie 4 got return 11/8 (6 days after return
MI 3 got returned today 11/9 (7 days after return

butterfly effect 2 is still out

either the stores are holding all the movies and shipping them back on a certain day or the shipping times really suck

Wow, this is my first month on BBonline and I find it really puzzling.

I'm in Milwaukee, WI, and my movies ship from Chicago, IL, which is less than 200 miles from me. I started the membership last Saturday, and I just got my movie yesterday. That's four days, compared to when Netflix would get me them in about 1-2.

Hopefully the in-store DVDs will be worthwhile, considering these guys are slow as hell.

probally keeping the disc by themself to send back at a later time. it would really be a mess trying to see how much sales were Real sales compair to disc that got return

i got another 3 movies today. so this pushes me to 15 movies this month so far and i just joined on OCT 30.

i will return these 3 movies sunday (no since i running them back early since no mail tomorrow)

WOO 7 movies to watch on the weekend again lol

Right now I have FOUR movies shipped in a 3 plan....I think they got confused with the in-store thing :)

I plan on getting another today....too bad in-store does not have HD-DVD, but I will just rent those online, and trade in for normal DVD's in-store....what a deal! Plus, I still get two free GAME rentals each month with my account.
