New Chappelle Show Episodes to Air Spring 2006

Such a shame he's not coming back.

Is he even doing anything now? I imagine the DVD sales alone probably gave him enough $$$ to last a while...

I'm happy to see some new sketches, but I'm a bit worried. Chappelle is having nothing to do with these sketches being aired, and that's a shame. Part of the success of his show is how much say Chappelle had over the show... everything from music to editing and such.

Still one of the greatest moments in my life has to have been when I saw him in San Francisco "For What it's Worth" at Fillmore. Amazing stand-up.
"It's great material, and we think our audience is hungry for it," said Comedy Central President Doug Herzog, noting that the last original episode of "Chappelle's Show" aired in May 2004
 May 2004?

That's the first negative review i've heard. Everyone I know loved it, IMO it's close to Richard Pryor's stand-up. LA Time's ranked it up there also. The part where he says he wants to be so famous he can put his dick on someone's shoulder was hilarious.

It's great that they're putting out what was already in the can for the halted season.

I remember they were interviewing Charlie Murphy about it at one point and he said the sketches they'd filmed were unbelieveable but he didn't know if they'd ever see the light of day. Now I guess we shall all find out. :)

"For What It's Worth" isn't even as good as his last stand up, "Killing 'Em Softly". It's very funny, but not close to Richard Pryor or even Eddie Murphy (in the 80's).

It seemed a bit outdated too, like he had been saving up some of those jokes for the past 5-10 years in case he ever needed to fill out a set that was running short.

My thoughts exactly. It's a good stand-up, but not his best stuff.

The beggining was good, but this was in June. Right at the point where Rick James got big, when it was shown 6 months later, Rick James skit was old.

This may sound like a dumb question but Im serious. Was it ever officially said why he quit the show etc etc? Last I heard was they were trying to take away his control of the show and tried making it diff from his vision of what he wanted.

Reports say Chapelle was worried that all he could go was downhill. Once you reach the peak he was up, it's impossible to match.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Chappelle show? I watched a few episodes with my friends and I didn't find it funny.
