I don't see how snapping up non-superfluous games to maximize trade-in is right either. That's something I'm not going to get on the high horse about (see below), but it's not something to brag about either. Picking up a $5.99 normal price copy of Drake (that no one wants) to make your 'Trade 3, get 1 for $5' deal is one thing, snapping up copies of games people have been waiting for just so you can maximize trade-in is another.

Not speaking to anyone in particular, just chaps my ass a little. I've bought three games my entire life excusively for the purpose of trading in, and they were all $4.99-5.99 used titles at EB that there were about 80 copies in stock so I could get KOTOR II in the latest BB deal. If I was going to buy Baten Kaitos, Mega Man, or anything semi-rare on that list for trade-in, I'd kick my own ass.
People do those things, as people are almost alway inherently selfish.
Them doing that is an annoyance, however, I find it to be more grevious when then come on and then start to brag about it. That serves no purpose, and rubs it into the face of the people who provided the useful info to them in the first place.

On this I do agree with you... people buying things soley to shift them around does irk me, especially when it's off of the backs of people who helped them, as this almost ensures that those people won't even have a chance at the games.
In fact, I'll take it a step further and say that I'm glad that Gamerush killed a number of their more favorable deals, as that will keep a number of people from raiding this sale with the intent of flipping all of it for Blockbuster/Gamerush credit.

I think most people would agree... if you are going to take part in such chicanery, don't bother coming here to brag about it... you're not likely to get a warm welcome.

Curious to see if they will really accept a BB coupon on this...anyone try it yet on any game so far before this sale?

Concur. Seeing as I am extremely bored, I may go in to CC and see if any have been put back out yet by mistake. Or if anything else strikes my GC fancy.

Wow, I know my miniscule Spanish knowledge doesn't cover that.

I scored four titles (Baten, Theif, Transformers, KOF:MI) at a CC that never has ANYTHING close to a good deal. Finally paid me back for all the gas I've used driving out there during every other sale. Still looking for a copy of SNK Vs. Capcom. The other CC (about 2 miles closer, but in a heavily populated shopping center) has yanked all their games. I'll be in line Sunday morning, and may your deity assist you if you snatch the last one from the shelves in my presence. :whistle2:#

This post in no way endorses physical violence against your fellow shoppers.
Ok, maybe a little shoving.

The Circuit City here STILL hasn't pulled their games yet.

What they did is put them all face down, so the sticker labels are showing up. It actually makes it alot easier to find what ps2 game you're looking for really quickly.

But then, the idiots there did the SAME THING with the xbox games! They have no label, so you have a bunch of face down Xbox games stacked 7 to a stack, and you can't tell what's what.

I'm disappointed every time I walk in there now. I did grab the second to last copy of Project Snowblind for ps2, however.

So... if your Circuit City still has the games out will they ring up at 9.99 or at their original price. Also, if you buy the game at full price now, will they adjust the price on Sunday?
For those of you that don't know spanish... he said "sorry I didn't understand. Im stupid".
Oui, C'est vrai.

Here's what we know:

1) Games bought now will ring out at regular price, which will be $19.99, $24.99 or $29.99, as an example.
2) They should do the price adjustment as a PM on the 3rd, which would be $9.99 + 10% of difference to $9.99.
3) They may do the price adjustment down to $9.99 and claim that this, being a clearance sale, isn't applicable to a PM.
4) If you don't open your games, you can return them.
5) If they don't change the price, which has been suspected, return the games.

That cover it?

Thanks, Shrike4242. Too many people have been asking these questions and I wonder how many post this thread will end up with.

Only saw one remaining soon-to-be-clearanced XBox game on the shelf. Of course, the games I want were not there. Maybe on Sunday.

That and the sale may be only Sunday and Monday - so pricematch then.

Just to throw caution in the wind. Does anyone remember a similar CC clearance in the early Spring that turned out to be nothing? I sure do, many of the games in that "sale" are on this list and that sale never happened. But I do hope that this one does happen.

This is already more or less confirmed.
This is already more or less confirmed.
Yeah, I saw a list that a CC employee was using to pull the games. She showed me the list and the first page was a memo that said, something like "It's time for our yearly video game clearnece event." among other things. Unless CC corporate decides to pull the plug in this, this baby IS happening.

At 81st street this kid walked in with a written list and started to ask if they had any of the games on the list. The lady told him they were part of "the list" and if they weren't on display they didn't have them. He browsed for a while but couldn't find anything. To make the long story "even longer" I asked another guy there if they had Chronicles of Riddick (some of you recommended it) he also said it was part of a list and they had pulled everything on the list off the shelf. I said too bad, I had seen it the day before and was gonna get it for my brother for his birthday, I'll try another store. Then he told me to wait that he would check downstairs for me. He said I didnt look like the "hoarder" that was there before. He recognized him from the last sale. He says the dude walked out with a ton of games several times even repeats of the same game. He proceded to tell me that this time around ( for the first time) the employees knew in advance and they are putting games asside for themselves and friends and they alerted 14 st store (they are slow). He also told me there is alimit of 3 titles per customer when the sale hits. He wasnt specific weather it was 3 of the same or 3 titles period. I actually found the game (out of place)while waiting for the guy to come back. He came back empty handed but at least he tried. He saw I found a copy and said I was lucky they must've missed that one. He even pulled me out of a long line and rang me up on a register on middle of the floor. The moral of this extensive story is that if you act like a hoarder you will be treated like one and you mess it up for the rest of us.

Which would be very odd, if true, though nothing surprises me anymore with CC sales.

I really hope it isn't true. This weekend I work saturday but am supposed to be at a family reunion all weekend in Vermont. I was going to price check it before I left on Sunday - but my mother and father seem quite displeased with this notion.

Damn hillbillies had to have it in Vermont didn't they. It couldn't have been in Boston, NY, or, oh say, connecticut.

Damn it all. This sale better last longer than those two days and I better get my price match.

That's probably YMMV. My CC's could care less it appears.

Yeah, that would be weird, especially for a clearance. If it's only two days, that sounds like a sale to me, not a clearance. In that case, I would expect the pricematch plus.

FWIW, the manager I talked to on the phone said it lasts until the games are gone.
Not sure if anyone offered yet, but I have a Ridge Racer up for trade assuming I can get it price adjusted on Sunday. Let me know if you are interested.
Good to know! What was the deal with the ad saying something about the $9.99 sale only being Sunday and Monday? Or was that just for the titles listed in the ad? The titles listed in the ad were Mustand Racing and some other crap I think. That must be separate from this clearence.

Just got back from my local CC again. All of the games in the list have now been pulled -- which is a shame since I was going to buy the two I wanted today and then PM on Sunday. Oh well. I was able to pick up one of the grey Wavebird controllers on clearance for $17, however.

I told the guy who rang me up that I had heard rumors of a video game clearance this Sunday and asked him if he could shed a little light on the subject. His reply: "I'm not supposed to share that information with customers, but...it would help if you got here pretty early." He also said that CC would be open Monday, which I thought unusual because it's the 4th. I figured they'd be closed for the holiday.

Oh yeah, and the guy tried to charge me full price ($19.99) for Starfox Adventures. Wasn't that game on the clearance list last time around? I tried to get a price check, but it wasn't in the system, so he said he had to charge me the tagged price. Not a big deal, but I did want to pick it up for a friend of mine and was hoping I could snag it for $5 or less.

One more thing: Who were the CAGs willing to pick up extra copies for the rest of us? I'm going to be in line early Sunday morning, but if I don't get my Ridge Racer, PoP 2, and MM:AC, I'm going to need some help.

For you guys wanting to buy the games now from the stores that have already pulled them, do what I did. First, this will probably only work if you're looking at 2 or 3 games...not 8 or 9. Anyway, before you go, call them and verify if they have whatever games you are looking for in stock. Chances are the person will simply punch it up on the computer and then confirm they have them without knowing they are in the back somewhere.

Then go, look on the shelves to make sure they have been pulled. When you can't find them, tell the clerk you called earlier about your games and was told they had them in stock but you don't see them. Chances are they will go find them for you before they will turn you away knowing you just made a special trip to the store.

That's what I did. They brought the games out to me and they were already tagged as being $9.99. Of course they didn't ring up that way but I'd much rather know I have what I want already than hoping I can find them in a mad rush Sunday morning. If there is a problem getting my money back, I'll simply return the games since I haven't opened them.

Oh yeah, as soon as I get the difference back I'll be enjoying both Prince of Persia 2 and Madden 2005.

There will be a few $7.99 games for those two days only. Hitman 2, LOTR Return of the King, and a couple others.
I'm vaguely curious to see what all the fucking Ebay whores look like in-person, so that's actually half the reason I'm planning to go by my local store on Sunday. They are old and ugly, I have confirmed this in many areas of the country.

BTW, which store are you heading out to? I'm from the area so maybe we will encounter each other and fight off the hoarders, haha.
I may try to pick up Baten Kaitos and Megaman Anniversary Collection tomorrow, then go back for the 110% price match on July 3.

There's surprisingly little I'm even interested in, though. Aside from those two, all that caught my eye was Samurai Warriors and The Suffering, neither of which I was ever particularly set on getting, and maybe Ridge Racer DS, just so I can have another cheap DS game.
Will they price match a clearance sale?

Hmmm this will be interesting. I was just thinking about what someone said earlier about multiple copies. I purchased two nano breakers for fellow caggers here, a snowblind for another cagger, ssx3 and amplitude for myself. I wonder if they'll let me out with that much stuff/two of the same game.

the mantra ususally is 3 of the same game, you should be able to

Went this afternoon and they already pulled all the games from the list from the shelves. Figured at least they would have the ECW One Night Stand dvd too but they didnt.

I'll throw this out there like I do every day -

If anyone sees The Suffering for ps2, I'll do cost + shipping for it or I can find something you might want at a CC around here.

I want this game with the hotness.

some weird and good news:

happen to be at CC today, and luckly I had my list of games on sale with me. unfortunatley, i had them price checked and they were all at original price... but i am sure will drop on July 3rd. I have the list here (read below) of what good or decent stuff I found at my CC. If I can get a good system worked out, I am going to start a thread real soon to take requests on what people want me to buy for them that I can then send out. here's the list... and please don't PM me until I consider doing this for everyone. Very good finds i can say though:

also note: some/most of these the CC had two copies of or more/less

GBA:
Hamtaro Ham Ham Games
