I figured this deserves it's own thread.

Engadget has posted pictures.

More there.

Edited for grammar XD

Not as "majestic" or "tech-y" as I thought (I was comparing it to the Apple iPod), but still nice. Simple, clean, and an improvement.

Though I think they should stray from that "cream" color influence, lest it's a bad picture.

Looks pretty sleek as compared to the DS we all have now. I'm sure the big question that everyone is wondering....what is the slot 2 on the bottom for? Hmmm...

EDIT: Oh maybe its just referring to the GBA slot. What's above it then? It looks like a piece that could come off or something?

It looks like it'll use the same charger as the GBA micro, which will save me a plug on my desk outlet. I do like how it has a cover for the GBA slot as well. Anyone spot the stylus?

On the talkbacks someone mentions that the stylus is stored horizontally. Where they are seeing that, I have no idea.

I honestly hope that is an early proto-type plastic or that the picture quality sucks b/c right now the white just looks dirty.

The very last image is probably the correct color, unless they're taking pictures of different ones, or the top of the DS is a lot brighter than the rest. Although even that is a little dirty.

Yea I read that too but I have no idea either. It does look cream colored in the pictures, I'll be willing to bet its just the pictures though. Now I wonder if it'll have blue lights on it now, ala Micro and Revolution.

Can't see a power button in those pictures either, on the side SP-style probably?

This thing just isn't very aesthetically pleasing. I'm still planning on buying one just because of the better designed buttons and d-pad, but couldn't they make this thing look a little sexier?

since I already have a DS, I will hold off on getting a new one. I'm sure in a few months there will new colors. The white doesn't really do anything for me. God I hope they come out with a black one to copy the black Ipod.

I was hoping for a, well, iPod rip-off. Sleek, white, and glossy with transparent buttons and rounded edges.

I don't think that is the production version. Don't get me wrong, I think it will look just like that but more glossy and a different shade of white.

The stylus is held in the horizontal, and the power button is on the side.

The adapter is different, but you can see that for yourself. :)

Me too. If they released a glossy looking black one, I'd buy it in a second.

I think those pictures are a bit misleading.. that color is a dirty white rather than a white one. Oh well, the black one with be t3h s3x!:)

It's just the serial number/bar code thing blurred out.

When I see thing thing in person, I don't see how I will be able to resist finally jumping into the world of the DS.

I think the stylus position is a big improvement. It'll be a lot easier to switch between the buttons and stylus—just think about knocking it out and getting it ready with your middle finger. No searching for it up top.

Dont get white guys...looks like whatever plastic they use might be the yellowing kind. I'm going black or keeping my original.

Even if its just a cheap prototype with low quality plastics, I'm still only going for the lite if it comes in glossy black.

Meh. I'm gonna have to pass if it ends up looking like that or at least that color. I thought it would be all shiny like the new iPods. Might have to wait till they release Limited Edition _____ DS lite and stick with me LE Mario Kart DS for now.

Having seen a lot of plastic enclosure/bezel prototypes in my day, this one seems to scream proto. My guess is that it might be a soft tooled enclosure where they use lesser quality plastics to test out the general fit of the tool die.

In the bottom pic, it seems to look like the colors of the different pieces are not uniform and aren't as glossy as the ones above it. Makes me wonder if we're seeing a couple different units in the 5 pics.

I hope it has a somewhat glossy surface that will resist fingerprint and staining if they chose white as the first color released.

I'm still looking forward to it.

Those pics looks like an obvious mock/prototype. I highly doubt the retail version will look so dingy.

And for all the people asking for a glossy/ipod finish... Are you ok with having to buy a cover just to protect your DS from scratches? Because that's what will happen if they change it. I'd rather keep the "matte" finish the current DS has.

I agree. Say what you want about Sony's PSP, but it is one sleek looking S.O.B.

Haha... I wonder if all this concern with aesthetics was present back in the 80s. I guess the SNES was kinda cool looking, but the NES and GB? Ugly as sin, but beautiful machines.

Looks good...Can't wait till they announce the other colors. Ive been holding off pre-ordering one from Lik-Sang until they do.

I was thinking the same thing... There's still hope...

I just don't like the Start and Select buttons being near the four face buttons.

I always liked having the Start/Select buttons further away from the main field of play and button mashing. Just my preference (and it was fine in the original DS design)

Other than that minor gripe, I really like the fact the screens are even brighter now. Time for my 3RD DS!

You guys think this is the power or the stylus?

Cause I'm not seeing anything else on the back unless the stylus is white and fits firmly into the back somewhere.

I hope that its the some prototype, and not what its going to look like. The plastic on it looks like the same that was on PC cases back in 95 and they turned yellow in time.

It's not a prototype*, and that's the stylus holder. The power adapter space is next to the DS card slot.

*This sorta is I suppose, but this is what they'll look like.

good luck not accidently turning it off.

Dude, lay off. He's actually held one.

I don't think I'm the only one who gets tired of your sarcasm all across the forum.

I'm in agreement about the Start and Select buttons. Not only do I not like where they are placed, they seem like they were an afterthought. There's just something about the way they look that I really don't like.

The brighter screens is probably going to sway me on this one as well.

Now, do I give my old DS to my wife or do I use it to offset the price of the new one?

You have to hold it in the off position for a few seconds before it shuts off.

Anyone else notice the two white areas on the top portion of the DSLite that resemble what could be clips? I also noticed the clear coating around the bottom and top portions. Maybe they can be removed? The touch screen also looks like it could be removable this time around too.

How is it that the system can shut all the away but the d-pad and buttons don't appear recessed and if the touch screen was somehow not flush (sticking out a bit), the sides would have gaps...or am I just a moron?

Notice the edges for the top screen, its concave. :)
