New (er) Top Loading NES's??
This thread got me wondering..Why is bootleg software taboo on this site yet bootleg hardware okay? I'm not judging or anything I'd just like some thoughts.
The boot leg software is looked down upon because its generally an illegal copy of a new game that may be of shoddy quality.

I don't think this is bad because 1, Nintendos are made any more and can be hard to find. This is a new version that is designed to last longer and not have flashing issues. Its not really a knock off as it is an unofficial and improved version.

That isn't a toaster. Its a convection oven. They're close, but not the same.

Bootleg hardware isn't an issue because most people considering the neo-fami or whatever have an original system... It just doesn't work any more.

that would actualy be a TOASTER oven...

I'm looking forward to the Generation NEX. It's a bit more pricey than the other clones but has some nice features like the ability to play Famicom in addition to NES games without an adapter. Also, it somehow incorporates a rumble feature in classic games. It'll be interesting to see how that works. Finally, I think the design of the Gen Nex is more Nintendo'esque. Not sure all that makes it worth twice the price of the other clones, but it will be another option for those looking to play their NES/Famicom library when it releases in September.

is nintendo still giving away free pin connectors? last year i saw how someone posted they called up nintendo's hotline and told them their nes had the blinking screen problem and they mailed them a free pin connector.

that is probably the best solution imo. free = good

I have a nes, a neofami, and have a tristar super 8 pending in(plays nes games on a snes)

that reminds me, i can probably sell my neofami and nes now.

Dude... duck hunt. No zapper support on the super 8. Thats the reason I didn't buy it from the guy in the trade forums.

Wow...that GenerationNex looks fucking sweet! I love the fact that it accepts the cartridges in the front, it's so much easier to put into a rack when you have tons of old systems like I do.

does anyone actually own a Generation NEX?.. because i'd like to know if its just as good as a official Nintendo/

EDIT: since it doesn't come out until september i guess no one
Well, I just messed around with it for a bit and took some pictures of the box, system, games, everything. Interesting, it DOES play Famicom (Japanese NES for those who don't know) games with a converter. I have a 72-60 pin coverter, meaning, I insert a NES-like cartridge into the system, and then place the Famicom game ontop of it, BACKWARDS. Meaning, I see the BACK of the label, not front. Works like a charm. I'll be editing the pictures, and maybe posting a review tonight/tomorrow.
Wheres that review Giz? I ordered mine early this week and am curious about the SM3 issues.

All this talk about the top-loader, converters, and etc. Can't we just petition Nintendo to re-release a revised NES that looks the same as the old white-red-black but internally improved?

They'd release it at some rediculous cost in order to cover the design and manufacturing costs - since I can't imagine that demand would be that great.
