New Family Guy tonight on Fox

I know, the one time i remembered it after the first episode was when they were playing Star Wars Ep II. Bastards.

I know, I'm super excited. New episodes for the next 7 weeks, actually.

And on a related and surprising note, according to Entertainment Weekly's TV ratings statistics, American Dad is significantly more popular than Family Guy, which is strange since American Dad is God-awful.

Bout time those dickheads at FOX put it back on and this Thurday on Adult Swim they will show the new episodes of Family Guy. Plus I don't think American Dad is half bad.:booty:

Reruns of newer shows, you mean. This Thursday, they're airing season 4, episode 1.. the one where Peter steals Passion of the Christ 2.

Thanks for the reminder, I have a terrible time remembering to watch shows.

I have a hard time believing that American Dad is more popular. It's an okay show, I guess. I'll watch it, sure. The first episode was pretty funny, but I haven't enjoyed the others as much. It's nowhere near as good as Family Guy. I can't explain why the show isn't that great -- maybe because it sort of feels like a half-assed version of Family Guy, which we already have. Also I don't like the characters as much.

fuckin sweet. I was gonna quit watching it altogether (the 4400 comes back TONIGHT). I am seriously happy about the reruns.

Hmm... I might finally remember to watch Family Guy. I missed the last two episodes because I stopped watching Sunday night TV since ABC moved Alias to Wednesday.

However, I did watch the clip of the return of the chicken (and also the Keebler Elves v. Snap, Crackle, Pop).

It was......and they kept using it........the last one was about 30 time funnier IMO. I couldn't stop laughing at the Star Wars parody at the end.....

Once again a season 4 episode of Family Guy was very average. I laughed once or twice.
I only watched about half of American Dad because I was really board, and it was just as bad as ever. The only good thing about the show is that Patrick Stewert has a character, but that doesn't even come close to saving the show.
I can't wait until Fox starts showing the good AD again.

Family Guy was terrible tonight, was like fuggin American Idle without the somewhat funny pauses. American Dad saved this Fox Sunday from totally blowing, and you got to hear an Abe Lincoln joke... they're really running outta ideas.

You think? It was obvious that they had run out of ideas when the first episode of the new Family Guy was a crappy rip-off of an old and somewhat unfunny South Park.

Yeah, tonight's episode was easily the worst.. probably in the entire series, the only one that came close on this level of "suck" to me was the episode where Chris became an artist..

Thank jebus for TIVO other wise I would have forgot, the episode was pretty good nothing over the top funny about it but good nevertheless. Brain barking at the black guy had me laughing though.

I actually thought last night's episode was (*gasp!*) funny in some parts. Anything referencing Revenge of the Nerds and Journey in a span of 15 minutes has to be good. Of course, The Simpsons have already done both and much funnier ("Homer Goes To College" and "Burns, Baby Burns").

I keep forgetting about Family Guy on Sundays! I wasn't too impressed with the first new one. Maybe that is why I keep forgetting about it. I have only watched the first American Dad too and thought that was pretty bland. Not horrible, but not particularly funny either. Kinda like what I've seen of Futurama (enables flame shield).

I feel like American Dad is sucking the quality away from Family Guy. These new Family Guy episodes have all been extremely scattershot.

I realize that part of the Family Guy humor is all the random references that get thrown in, but I think the new episodes have been abusing this to a new level. Thinking back to the good classic episodes (Emission Impossible, Road to Rhode Island, Lethal Weapons, etc.) FG still had a lot of coherency. By contrast, these new eps seem like they are all random references, with almost no coherency at all.

I feel like the elements of humor that made FG good got split into two halves. All of the random stuff continued on bearing the FG name, while everything else got converted into American Dad. The result is that both series are mediocre, with a few good points, but not coming even close to the original FG.

The 4400 is back. Watched it last night (2 hour season premiere) and it rocked. For those of you who are disappointed with the return of the Family Guy so far, watch it in reruns and watch the 4400 instead.
