New Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas DVD

That dvd came out 4 years ago, it's hardly new. That being said, it's Criterion. You almost never see these on sale, except for the DeepDiscountDVD sale that they have at least once a year.
Ive never seen this movie. But my biggest question is what makes Criterion versions worth so much more?
Criterion makes sure each dvd is crafted to what the filmmaker wanted and what the film deserves. They pretty much choose the best films in their eyes and release them with as many extra goodies as possible. People pay a lot for the dvds because they are known for their quality instead of a bare bones or poorly made dvd made by the studio.

You can save about $10 by buying used on Amazon marketplace. Otherwise yea, $30 is about the going price for it. There's tons of extras...and I do mean TONS. You'll be satisfied for sure.

fear and loathing new dvd??? I assme u mean the one that looks like a brown paper bad with red squigly writing on it thats a slipcase and has been out for a little over numerous years now?

This isn't always true, sometimes the cheap studio release can be of a higher video quality then a criterion. Time Bandits comes to mind.

Oh, and some of the criterion releases have zero extra features. Alphaville for example.

Look into reviews/comparisons of criterion releases versus regular releases before paying the extra cash. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it's really really not worth it.

That's right, there are a few instances of zero special features. Alphaville for example has no special features, but the Criterion version is the only official DVD copy for the United States.

Also the more well known movies might have new dvd versions that surpass the Criterion Versions (Silence of the Lambs and Robocop come to mind).

OP If you have the money and an HD screen, you should just get the HD-DVD attachment and the HD-DVD copy of Fear And Loathing.

It doesn't have any extras like the Criterion does but the picture quality on the HD blows the Criterion away.
