I started working on this project when I started to really fall in love with the Wii. But it bothered me that the boxes didnt match, but it was backwards compatible. I've seen other people making Gamecube boxes white, but never a Wii box turned black for the Gamecube.

I spent a lot of time making it extremely close to the original Wii Template. This was completely built from scratch from a Zelda:TP box, and a Mario Sunshine Box.

Details:
-The Gamecube logo is the same size as the "Wii" logo on both the side and the front.
-The Black Rule (White on the Wii) on the side and the front was colored "Gamecube Black", not just black. (Yeah, theres a difference, the Gamecube black has more purple in it)
-I made a Gamecube silouette for the top-right backside of the cover. Just like the Wii cover!
-The Template itself is hand crafted with 60+ companies logos in it, all ESRB, all PAL ESRB, PAL/NTSC signs.
-I recreated the Nintendo Official Seal from scratch since there wasnt a good one online.
-The Template can be used for Gamecube and for Wii. And its the clearest, cleanest template out, all under 6 MBs at the moment.

Thanks for looking, and please let me know what you think!
ANOTHER MOOKYJOOKY PROJECT

That looks awesome!

I wouldn't care enough to use all that ink printing something like that out, but very nice work on the graphics nonetheless.

Given that I have too many GameCube games, it would be tough to justify redoing covers for all of them, but in the case that I do (which would be around the time that I finally decide to make GBA DS cases), you are my hero, Mooky. It would be cool to have all my Cube games and Wii games mixed together, differentiated only by the black or white spine.

Looks great.

Geez man, that is some incredible work. I am very impressed!

Is it possible for you to make one for the GC Resident Evil 4 next? I would love a copy of it, so I could redo my case. I only own three GC games (RE4, Mario party 6, and The Wind Waker), and of those 3, RE4 is the only one I really care about.

Really bro, just wow.

That really does look sweet and while I love how the current GC covers look, those covers are amazing. If there were a full collection of these I'd happily get them for all of my games and if I knew how I'd help make some (I've only used Paint.NET a few times for fun) and then I'd take them somewhere else to be printed cause I know my printer will make this look like shit.

Looks great! I'm not sure if I could help, but if you need anything, let me know (free, easy hosting?).

I'll be the first to say: anyone sells these on eBay, we're sicking Strell on you. And you know you don't want that. ;)

I do have many many dodgeballs.

And a machine with which to throw them.

There has got to be a way you can make this a full time job.
lol. Nice work but these comments are stretching it.

Constructive criticism? - I hate to sound harsh, but all it is is a scan of the back slapped on a Wii Template with some new artwork slapped on the front. No offense but that is hardly revolutionary. Beginner Photoshop material. You Wii Sports cover was better. There's definitely potential there though. Keep up the hard work and expand your horizon. Do you do custom DVD covers too? Try it out and join the ranks.

I've been doing them for 5-6 years now. I go by the same name on all of them as I do here. Check out these links for a world of DVD cover customization:

I've heard of stupider people doing stupider stuff for money. Once heard a story of a guy who, being fed up with his gridlocked traffic commute to work, got out of his car and held up a sign saying "Want to wait 2 hours? Or pay me 20 bucks and drive in the HOV lane?"

Supposedly he does this as a job now - rides in the back of cars up and down the highway in the HOV lane, and people just pay him cash to save that much time.

The point being is that I don't think this specific activity might yield a job, but it always could, and the skills being utilized always could elsewhere.

Shit. There's a guy who - and I am not kidding - takes images from porn movies, puts them in Photoshop, pixel-izes them so that you can just barely pick out the image if you know what you are looking for, blows it up, and pants it on a canvas. We're talking painting by color boxes here.

And that's it.

fuck I wish I'd thought of that.

I like that design better than the actual GC ones. Nice job!!

This may be "entry level Photoshop" stuff, but there are places that pay big for someone with the patience and skill to do things on this level.

Yeah, I mostly only do Game box design. I not only work on the covers, but the template design as well. I'm a member at Generetic and Console-Covers.

I've been working on Cover Design as a hobby for years. I'm an ex-Graphic Designer/ Web Designer from the Dot Com days, and have since then fallen into IT Work, where I work for GE currently.

This project took me roughly 4-5 hours. Which I built it from scratch (not just ripped from one cover to another like you suggest. Also, this is my rough draft, as I'm not making it available yet. When I do, it'll be a full template fully customizable for Wii and Gamecube.

I'd like to see some of your work, and I'd be happy to have a photoshop battle if you'd care to. Friendly of course.

Let me know. Maybe you could show me something I dont know. =)

Looks good. It's so weird...just the other day I was looking at how the Gamecube spines look fairly ugly when they stand next to the streamlined Wii ones.

Nice design. Pointless to me as I don't care if the box art matches (GC games on Wii games on different shelves so no big deal even if I did care), but nice work nonetheless.

That is some pretty sweet boxart. Great job.

Now to find an easy way to print these things out...

You so have to notify us when you complete the templates.

Look great, I wouldn't actually use my ink and paper to print them since I'm a cheapass :p, but fantastic work. You should be Nintendo's designer.

Like I said, all constructive criticism. I take my lumps too when I do covers. :) Don't get me wrong, I like 'em. Just not as blown away by them as everyone else. I prefer the Wii Sports cover. I was expecting to draw ire from my post, but that's okay. One can't improve with only "yes" men around.

I'm on Gen too, but I only have a few things posted there. I quit posting due to the rampant abuse of my Disney collection. I did those about 5 years ago. Not my best work.

As for people selling them on ebay, DarthVong, another esteemed designer is always having trouble with his designs ending up there. There isn't much you can do about it but shout and scream. It sucks.

As for a friendly battle, www.r1db.com is actually having a cover design contest. DVD, of course. $100 top prize. Check it out.

Hey and you're in Louisville! I work at GE, and I have to send End of Lease machines there everyday. Thats all I know about Louisville. :D

Is your Disney Collection the ones with the grey borders and different colored "Walt Disney" at the top of them? Or the ones that look like books?

And for all of you who were joking about me being a graphic designer, I'm making a resume now. ;) Seriously.

Small world, GE is pretty good to this city. Ever been here?

Did you go to school for Graphic Design here? Just getting into it? I work at a sign company and we just finished making a 12' x 20' NASCAR sign for Universal Studios Orlando last week as well. Cool stuff.

My Disney covers are the brushed aluminum ones with the original theatrical posters on the front. Those were my very first covers(5-6 years ago) and they show. :) Way down on the list of my favorites that I've done. I'd even say they pale in comparison to nearly everything that followed. People still love 'em though. It was an ambitious set at the time and there were zero complete sets like it. Even still I don't think most finish the complete 43 disc collection. Most only hit the high notes. All my work is at r1db. Check it out. Just type in "corvin" in the cover search field and should pull them all up. Last count, around 130, with a half dozen still in the works.

Damn you Mooky! I hate you but damn it I still respect you. Great stuff as usual. Take your time on that template. I've barely started doing my PS1 games into DVD cases, slow process because theres only a handful online and I'm sadly using an OLD version of photoshop. I recently stopped too because I ran out of DVD cases. I'm using clear ones to go nice next to my PSP games for the PSP I don't even have yet.

Anyway I was thinking I wanted to just switch out all my Cube boxes for these.
meritline_1935_14541218.jpeg

I like the push button more and that color case really goes with the Cube logo. But now with your new style altogether, I wanna do new art and cases. If you need scans, I can provide some. Looks like you'd might only want the back scanned since youre going original on the front.

Man, I bet Nintendo wishes they would have picked this design from the get-go.

Mooky, you and Corvin should pick a movie and battle on R1DB for the prize money. I think it would be cool if you chose the same movie.
The machine being both your right and your left arms?
From what I hear, their named "Law" and "Order"

From a graphic designer opinion, it looks great (wii insert situation is over with, so dont ruin this thread).

I would maybe change the purple controller to white? Seems to be the only purple thing on that case. Also, I know since it is a GC game, the cases are black. White for Wii games. but what about white background to blend in with White cases..but at the same time, someone is able to tell the difference between this and Wii

Looks fantastic as usual Mooky.

My only recommendation is to remember to make icons for the GC Microphone and Bongos to include on the back!
And maybe put a number in the middle of the GC controller to show the number of possible players like the Wii ones do.

I totally want to switch my games over to these cases but I have like 100+ Gamecube games...
*waits for somebody to sell Mooky's cover on Ebay* good job
Whatever. Obviously someone doesnt know how to read instructions as to not to derail the subject of the thread.

Whatever. Obviously someone doesnt know that it's wrong to take other people's work as your own and sell it for profit

Very nice, I wouldn't have the patience to switch out my Gamecube covers for these.

I should get around to getting custom DS cases for my GBA games, though.

Mooky, you're doing great things! The cover looks great, and I'm proud to share this web site with you. You've turned out to be among the most talented CAGs (right up there with OneTrackMind).
