New Gamecube controller for only $19.99 on Amazon, grab them for SMASH!
Wish they were Wavebirds.
Yea, Wavebirds are hard to find nowadays. I'm trying to replace the one I have now, my "Z" button is busted.

Thanks OP. I grabbed one, even though I really don't like the platinum one.

I'm contemplating how many to get. Do I just get 1 for SSBB or do I get a couple for when other people want to play Brawl too but don't like the Wii remote style? Argh!
you can still find wavebirds at some EB's [at least in the boston area] they are running 24.99 each.
I found a wavebird at the local GS for $17.99. After cashier error and 10% Edge discount, I got it for $9.
Why should I buy a new console and be forced to adapt waggle if classic controllers are probably better for most the games anyways?
the point of buying these is that you're NOT forced to "adapt waggle"

I'm confused....Are you guys buying these to work for gamecube or Wiis ?
I have a Wii and plan on buying SSBB for the Wii.
1) can you use the wii remote to controll this game on the wii?
2) How could these controllors work for the Wii there is no port for them to plug into in to

Open up the hinged covers on the top of the console. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Open that flap at the top of the Wii and you'll find four slots for GameCube controllers.

They are buying them to use with the Wii as Smash Bros Brawl can support Gamecube controllers. Yes, the remote will work as well for the game - see:
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/various01.html

There are ports to plug Gamecube controllers & memory cards under a flap on the Wii - that's how you play Cube games on the system.

Personally, I'm just taking Smash Bros as an opportunity to stock up on Classic Controllers as I prefer them to the Cube controller.

Awesome - where can I sign up for "cashier error"? Is there a coupon I can print out?
I kept my 2 wavebirds when I sold my Gamecube.
I kept my 5 wavebirds and kept both my Gamecubes. I use one in my office, mostly for GBA games.

LOL.... nah.

I picked up a used HD-DVD drive the day they dropped in price for 44.99 (after edge). I returned it a few days later so I could get a brand new one instead and was credited 49.99 for the returned unit. I then used my Edge and the 10% coupon on the Wavebird (-1.80/-1.80) and new HD-DVD unit (-5.00) and the difference was only ~$9.

Meh, I'll just pick up a classic controller for my left over Wiimote. I already have 1 GameCube controller and 2 Classic Controllers. I'll just have my friend bring an extra Wavebird. Thanks for the link tho!

Thanks for the info. guys....saw the ports on top of the Wii..... Now i wish i didnt sell me gamecube controller....

Just a warning that the pait peels off these platinum colored controllers no matter how well you take care of them.

I really want another bird, but will keep this in mind if i need free shipping on somthing else.

thanks

lol wow haha

I only bought one wavebird when they were released but I kept it b/c I still have the cube + 3 other controllers. All are in great cond. plus I have two extension cords b/c those cords are DAMN SHORT! Take down the Wii if someone isn't careful.

I still can't believe Nintendo hasn't started production of birds again. With the prices they're consistantly pulling down on EBay, it seems like they'd make a mint on nice new ones in the white finish to match the Wii.

Yeah well Nintendo does a lot of weird things with accessories, if ebay sales are an indication they should have never stopped selling cube component cables but they did. As for a white wavebird, you know that doesn't do anything for me, maybe dark red or blue. 6 colors released for the n64 yet can't even get more then two for a wavebird, sad.

I ALMOST sold my Wavebirds when I sold my GC until I realized the Wii could use them shortly before release.

Last week I atleast scored these exact wired controllers for $2.97 at Sears :)

Wii Remote + Classic Controller. I agree the wavebird is nicer and would be great to have in circulation again, but Nintendo is making much better bank this way.
I bought 2 white ones on Ebay for less than that shipped.
White GC controllers? Probably bootlegs lol.

If you are talking about the knock offs, you will wish you didn't.

check your local game crazy and gamestop/eb, I found a wavebird a few months ago (started looking EARLY for smash) for 12 bucks!, got one at gamestop for 16.

I think 20 is a bit much for a normal gamecube controller.

I am so sick of anything Nintendo being listed as a "deal" just because it is in stock. First it is impossible to find a Wii, then ad DS, now GC controllers. Nintendo is totally holding back on all of this stuff to whip up a frenzy. The sad thing is it works like a charm. Fanboys rejoice!:applause:
Does anyone know if you are able to use the Classic Controller with Brawl?
Yes.

You can play the game with the following controller setups:

Wiimote only
Wiimote plus Nunchuck
Classic Controller
Gamecube controller*

*denotes that the game creators felt that this was the most "natural" controller to use.
