New Goozex Thread v2.5 -- Promo Details Given Here

i have two more questions about Goozex and i don't really know where else to ask them. so:

first - is there any way to tell how far back in line you are for a requested game? if i request a game how do i know how many other people requested it before me? for example - i saw a game i wanted that was available yesterday. i purchased enough points for it and requested the game. today, however, the game is no longer available. so, am i the second person in line for the game or the 22nd person in line for the game or what?

that leads to my second question - when exactly is a game taken down from available status. is it right away when someone requests it or only after the owner of it agrees to ship it?

adambomb -- will try to get survey out today and you raise some good points that have been talked about before -- we are having a meeting today to discuss next steps with a few of those

EdsonDJ -- We have removed all known MMO and Steam based PC games due to their ultra strict End User License Agreements (EULAs) -- PC Gamer interview with me on this subject a few months back...
And so Dark Messiah though not an MMO is associated with Steam.

cyko -- this is a great place to ask questions!
At the moment you don't know your position in the queue. We originally showed that, but when we expanded into Canada we faced a technical challange on how to accurately show your place on basically two different queues. We have developed a solution for this and hope to roll it out soon after we test it for accuracy and then code it.

A game is removed from available after one of the three things
1. The seller has committed to a trade
2. The seller has removed or placed on hold a game
3. The seller has timed out of requests and the game is automatically removed from his library

What's the deal with your customer service. I asked two questions yesterday without a response...not even an auto response. As someone who just enrolled and is deciding whether to continue with the service or not, what type of customer service do you provide and how long does it take to receive a response?
Thanks and good luck with the venture.

Hey guys, thanks for the answers. They were helpful, and I'm still thinking seriously about joining. It's funny, the thing that is keeping me from joining--the fact that it's not a straight barter system--is also the thing that makes Goozex really appealing: it creates a "cash" economy for trading games. It's a really interesting economic experiment, but obviously the key is having a reliable, trustworthy entity acting as the "bank" that sets values for items, etc. I'm keeping an eye out and if I have a free evening some time this week, maybe you'll all see my profile appear...

One other question though: how is the condition of games handled? For example, my copy of Trauma Center DS is complete, but there's a tear in the cover. Some people care deeply about this; is it just kind of a "you trades your games and you takes your chances" thing?

You could list it as complete, and when it's accepted, pm the buyer about it and see if they still want it. Personally I would list it as just the game and manual and include the case as a bonus. I'm sure people would want it even without the case.

There is a site I have found recently that trades books that I have been enjoying. They have a button to push when you have sent a game that generates an email to the recipient as a heads up the item has shipped. I think that would be a nice feature on goozex. Currently I PM the recipient when I ship, but I rarely get a similar message when I am expecting a game. Perhaps a button would generate more communication. Just a thought.

With the way Goozex works I don't personally expect everything to be in mint condition(I'm sure some do) rather just working condition. If you are looking for something for your collection or you're just a stickler for perfection, Goozex might not be the best place to aquire goods. Rather a more interactive system, be it ebay, gametz, craigslist, whatever. I like my games to come in a case, preferably with the manual but after that I don't expect anything more. Goozex is a place for me to get games I want to play, not aquire items for my collection. That's my two cents anyway, then again I suppose thats why we have the two positive answers, game as expected, game works but not as expected. Seems like a reasonable compromise I guess, my expectations are probably not as high as others. That's fine with me, thats what makes people great, different ideas.

Was there supposed to be any sort of confirmation about the bundle promotion thing? I signed up with the coupon code, but I didn't get any sort of message about it.

Hi Cow_tipper -- you are automatically entered with your signup.

Maxathon -- toldawg128 gave you the exact same response I would have given -- thanks toldawg!

sonny -- we have responded to your email...

erock -- that is a great suggestion...just IM'd it to our tech guy...it has been added to our list of developments

I signed up, used the coupon code, and at no point was prompted to choose a bundle... Am I supposed to send an e-mail?

awesome, thanks for the opportunity!

One of the questions in the survey asks about the possibility of User Adjusted Points Prices. What would that be? I assume you aren't talking about negotiating prices? At least I hope not.

No, not bartering...otherwise you can go to GameTZ for that. We have been tickering with an interesting idea to give our members more power in determining the point values to a certain extent.

The purpose of that question is to really prioritize our To Do list with site development.

Hmm...thats interesting. I've always thought a human eye is what is missing from the point system. I know how much time I spend looking at 360 games, many times I'd like to go in and "fix" a few of the prices that seem a little off. If you had a system that could take input and use it properly that would be awsome.

The only problem with this is that it's hard to figure out the perfect compromise to having a system that is both effective and resilient to abuse. I was thinking of having a system that allows a user to say whether the current points level is too low or too high, and their suggested point value, and when a game gets X adjustment queries, it would be forwarded to you and could then be manually adjusted. The only problem is knowing what X should be. Too high, and no games get adjusted, and too low, and you're flooded with extra work.

Not a complaint, but I noticed that I got skipped on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords (I got an email saying I had insufficient trade credits, then saw it on the recently traded list during the free trade week). Just something I thought was interesting. I'll probably restock trade credits/points later this week, now that Paypal has been added.

I like this idea....something that we could report to the powers that be, to adjust the price points more fairly for both the sender and receiver. I like this idea so much that I wish that I had placed it in my comments in the survey.
Hey guys i dont have points yet but when i do im i want to get a xbox 360 game. Is it very hard to get gears or vegas?
As both currently have games available as complete and are high point games, I would assume that it shouldn't be too hard to get as long as you have the required points. Most people waiting are probably building points (or building and spending points) and haven't gotten the required amount yet. That would be my assumption.

Another small bit of feedback...

When exchanging PM's, it would be nice to have a sent / received folder in our profile, or at least the option to email my outgoing PM's to my email account. It's a nice bit of reasurrance to be able to go back and re-read what you've sent to someone, and I never think to copy the text and save it somewhere before clicking send.

I hope the customer service steps up on this site. I have sent an email twice without response re an issue with a trade and have not heard back from anyone. Otherwise site seems to be humming with trades for me.

How about a point system based on the actual worth of the game in US currency (by the dollar). Data can be collected from sources like weekly sales, price drops, average price sold on auction sites (eBay, Yahoo, etc.) & CAG (which is a great source for what gamers are willing to pay for a specific game).

Also, would it be possible to be able to have the user set up deals through the system instead of having to wait for a match. I see a lot of games that are requested that I don't have the chance to trade.
Just curious, but what would people do if they received a greatest hits from a game they requested?
If they arn't separate UPCs, I wouldn't care then because it's the same game. I come here to trade games to play, with little hassle. Works great very little human interaction needed. When I need something for my collection, I go elsewhere because very much human interaction is likely needed.

Some people don't like greatest hits games at all, that's fine by me, but for those folks I don't think Goozex is the best service to meet their needs.

That said I'd think some sort of differentiation between GH and Regular copies would be ideal, since Original copies tend to be more valuable. This is entirely selfish not because I mind GH copies but because if I have an original I'd like the maximum points. Maybe Goozex can attach some sort of check box that you check on games that says GH or not. Might mess up the matrix match though, I don't know, I'm an idea man, not logistics personal.

Since there are some games that are different between the regular and GH/PH/PC games, I like how goozex has alot of those tagged already (DBZ Budokai 3, Fable, COD2, Morrowwind, etc) so I know if I"m getting the original or the GH version. I agree that I dont' care if it's GH/PH/PC/regular, as long as I have the game and it plays fine. I got in my first PH game the other day off goozex, and I really don't care.

Plus, some of those GH/PH/PC games are better then the original release of said game (see the games I listed, or DMC3 SE).

What I'm wondering if why am I matched for this game fro over 2 weeks now and I keep seeing that it's been "recently traded" and yet I keep timing out....makes no sense, unless it's in another region that it keeps being traded in....

hope your not talking doing something likeswitchplanet where people are asking 80 pts for a 20 buck game (1 pt = 1 buck there) so people are demanding people pay 80 bucks for used games what fetch 20 new in stores LOL

I just noticed that the game I've timed out on for 2 weeks now just went up in price. if I time out again (feel I am going to) and rematch, will I have to pay the new price?
i would get pissed off
why would you get pissed? They sent you what you requested. Goozex was never designed to be a place for hardcore collectors. The only reason some GH titles are listed is because they offer different content from the non-GH version.

I always prefer non-GH but I happily take what I can get.

I would PM Goozex (mark) here in this thread if you have problems. He's your fastest way to get results.

I have a greatest hits Hot Shots Golf PSP game, that I bought on half.com and after receiving found out it was greatest hits (did not state in auction). I wanted to put it up for trade, but I'm not sure if I should. Don't want to be dinged just cause its greatest hits and they were expecting something else.

Also, is there a way to add games to the site? Or should I pm to the mods?
Game in question: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex for PS2.

Cheers :)
agreed, people looking to get non GH should look elsewhere
yea, I prefer non-gh so I don't add games where there are gh releases to my request list :)

You shouldn't have any problems sending a GH game.

Ghost in the shell: SAC is on the site. Try to be less specific when searching the site (like just search "ghost"), it can be picky if you don't use a colon or something. Here it is: http://goozex.com/trading/asp/itemdetail.asp?item=2110
I know I sound like a broken record, but is it normal for a game to time out for as long as Halo2 has for me?
well I put my copy up as available so hopefully you'll match with me ^_^ I'll accept

haven't let anything time out

I'd just hate to think that I've timed out for 2 weeks and then the price goes up on me with the newest inevitable timeout.....that sucks....

Finally got matched and it's being sent....but at 50 extra points then if I hadn't been timing out for 2 weeks.....dammit.....
Finally got matched and it's being sent....but at 50 extra points then if I hadn't been timing out for 2 weeks.....dammit.....
same thing happened to me with X-men Legends 2(xbox). I kept timing out but was macthed up and sent the game IMMEDIATELY after it jumped in price 50 points.

I've also had 5 separate games time-out and disappear over the last week or so. I swear a bunch of Goozex users just dropped off the face of the earth, I haven't had this kind of problem on the site in a long time.

I think you matched with me. I haven't turned any down so whoever you were with before must have timed out or something. I should have it in the mail tomorrow to you...

Paul

Does anyone know the way they determine how much point each game is worth? Sometimes, games increased by 50 or even 300 points after a two week span.
