Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would reach 400 members in just a bit over two months. But it happened last night. And now we are well on our way to the next real big milestone of 500 members. It has been my goal to hit 2000 in the first year, and I will be doing what ever I can to assure that happens.

After that, I feel the site will start to grow perpetually bigger, faster. A snow ball effect as they say. Either way, I want send out big Thank You to many of you CheapAssGamer Members who have registered over the past couple weeks.

Thanks, again and see you around the Chuckwagon!

We have had many opt to purchase our $50 Lifetime Seller Membership. To reiterate, this Lifetime Membership will let you sellers run completely FREE auctions for ever on the Chuckwagon. This means no listing fees, no selling fees, no listing enhancment fees. Nothing ever again.

This offer will not be available for ever at this price as each day it becomes more valuable as more and more people are signing up. So this is a rare opporunity to lock yourself in for free auctions for years to come.

We are also seeing a few more items for modern consoles as well so be sure to check that stuff out!

These forums complement our already solid auction environment and also continues to nurture the community spirt that is building every day.

Right now, there is a great mix of classic gaming and modern gaming auctions running and definitely something for everyone.

500members.jpg

Exactly (3) Months To The Day ChaseTheChuckwagon.com Has Just Hit The 500 Member Mark.

I want to extend a warm thank you to all our inital 500 members for helping us attain this milestone in such short time. My goal is to have 2000 members on the Chuckwagon by March 24th, 2009 and so far we are right on track.

It will be up to us, the initial users to keep this Chuckwagon heading West by continuing to use the site whenever we are able and also promoting the site when and where appropriate to bring in more members. Please tell everyone you know who collects and plays games to Jump on the Chuckwagon Bandwagon.

I will continue to do as much as I can to promote the site in different areas and means to continue feeding it with new eyes and new traffic for our Seller community.

Thanks, again.

Explain to me how this is any different than keeping dual accounts on eBay (high prices and massive exposure, huge selection) and CAG/GTZ/TGN (no fees, established communities, lower prices/trades).

Congrats on 500 members and all, but your selection is awfully thin and I severely doubt you would be able to approach eBay prices should someone put up something valuable.

I hate to be that guy, but are you offering any innovations on the eBay model (i.e. Goozex) which would lend itself to serious competition? How much of your member base are just imported CAG/GTZ/etc.? How is this any different THAN eBay besides lower listing costs (I still see Paypal as the primary payment method)? How do you plan on overcoming the monopoly, simply because it was first and has entrenched itself, that is eBay?

Hey, thanks for getting some discussion going :) Right now the Chuckwagon is growing primarily with Collectors. This was cultivated from most of the classic gaming forums and newsgroups. CAG seems to cater more to the modern day gamers so I was hoping this thread would draw in some of the newer generation of gamer.

As far as traffic, ChaseTheChuckwagon.com has been receiving hundreds (sometimes hitting 1000/day+) of searches and category click throughs each day and growing. In just 3 months we have broke into the top 1,000,000 (currently ranked at just over 700,000 of all websites in the world, and around the top 250,000 in the USA and in the top 80,000 website in Canada) in worldwide site traffic which can be seen on Alexa.com - Traffic Rankings Section. This is incredible for being only launched 3 months ago. Search for Video Game Auction Site and we come up on page 1 or 2 of Google and that is bringing in members, as well.

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/chasethechuckwagon.com

Listen to our home page feature "Auction Talk" to hear up-to-date site growth statistics as well as learn about new and interesting items listed for auction:

http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/Auction%20Talk.mp3

We are finding that just like on Ebay, some things sell and some things don't. And just as on Ebay the more desireable and rare the item it the more it sells for. This forumula works everywhere. For example see this auction that just ended for a $205 Atari 5200 system -- trying finding one of these on Ebay for that price:

http://www.chasethechuckwagon.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000001969

As far as pricing is concerned - the Chuckwagon charges NO LISTING FEES so we are only paid if the item sells. Our selling and listing enhancement fees are significantly less than Ebay -- not even close. And we charge nothing for uploading up to 24 photos of your item (and the more photos you have in many cases the higher items sell for). There is no charge to have your own Chuckwagon Storefront/homepage URL and we have other free selling promotional tools that eBay doesn't have. Including a free bulk upload capability!

Arguments like yours worried me when I launched, but I don't see this argument hardly coming up any more. I mean, search for XBOX or Atari on Ebay and look at how many things close without a single bid. And yet, people continue to sell on it. At least if an item doens't sell on the Chuckwagon they are not charged anything and can relist it again until it does sell. I would bet that you if you looked at the ratio of sold/unsold, the Chuckwagon has more successfully closed auctions than Ebay!

We have been averaging 5 new members/day and I don't see that ending anytime soon. Especially with Ebay alienating long standing members left and right. A handful of Ebay Classic Gaming Power Sellers have made the switch are are selling more here than on Ebay. The Chuckwagon is not going anywhere and will keep growing year after year. Pretty soon it WILL hit mainstream (although I love having it just filled with collectors) and then it will snow ball. And the rest will be history.

Please don't knock it till you try it. Sign on, bid on some things or list some things then we will see if you still have the same argument. I think your ideas will change.

We also just launched our new community forum this past weekend and its starting to grow and complement our auction environement as well:

http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/upload/index.php

There is simply no better place to buy and sell video games than on ChaseTheChuckwagon.com. Ebay will always be a great place to find that great bargin or deal that was lised by someone who doesn't know what they have. But for selling, the Chuckwagon is proving itself each and every day. Simple as that. Don't believe me on this one, then search our items and see all the bids. The proof is in the pudding :)

Ebay is a state of mind and over time niche sites like the Chuckwagon will start pulling members away from Ebay. I seriously doubt Ebay had 500 members in it's first 3 months of existance selling Pez Dispensers. Video games are the most lucrative form of entertainment this day and age and certainly is big enough to have a dedicated auction site. Ebay runs about 300,000 video games auctions/day and my estimates that generates around 300-350 Mil/year for them. If the Chuckwagon can get 1/10 of 1% of that, then all is good :)

And we are offering a $50 Lifetime Seller Membership which many are taking advantage of as these members pay no selling fees whatsoever for ever on the Chuckwagon. Free auctions for life.

I think this says plenty about how we are different than Ebay. And not to forget that we only offer Video Games and related categories - and also for now are a means of selling various items from on-line gaming which Ebay now is limiting. And there is no clutter and no freakin advertising - only gaming reference affiliates. For those of you who automatically have this same argument, don't buy into it. It is simply false.

And it will only be a matter of time before the Chuckwagon secures some national press and that is something we are always working on. For now it is the fastest growing new auction alternative dedicated to classic and modern gamers. Take it for what you want.

I have been using ebay since 1997 (user name chasethechuckwagon) and have had just as much, if not better sales selling on the Chuckwagon. And it's not just me, other have had the same results. Go on our forums, register and ask the question. You will get the same answer I have given here. We have more traffic than just the 500 members or we wouldn't be ranking so high on Alexa.com. Many who have yet to register have book marked the Chuckwagon and WILL sign up as soon as they want to bid on something.

Give it a try and don't underestimate the power of the Chuckwagon :)

I think a site that is by gamers for gamers for auctions is a great idea, games are all I sell on ebay anyways, and I hate the fees!

I signed up and will check it out, thanks man. =)
hey why does my account show a -$5.00 balance, I just created my account???
Was wondering that too.

All new members start with a $5 Seller Credit which will let you list a few free auctions to try the site out.

If you haven't registered, log on , register and list your free items. You've got nothing to lose and may end up finding better alternative to Ebay for selling.

With eBay losing alot of cachet amongst sellers and buyers alike, it is inevitable that other auction/P2P sites come onto the scene. Mike (and thus chasethechuckwagon.com) is more collector and classic game(last-gen and earlier) oriented, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't sell just about anything else there, video game or otherwise. Clearly the audience is collector oriented too.

CAG is less of a collector community than most that I frequent. I never trade-in anything, and I rarely sell or trade anything I don't have a spare of. And yes I have a basement full of games and crap. But I hit up CAG all the time to take advantage of the deals and click through to support the site. And I heart the Cagcast. But if you want to try a novel way to flip games you're done with, then post them on a new auction site like chasethechuckwagon.com or another that doesn't have listing fees. If post your minimum bid at the same price as you'll get for a trade-in and it sells, you have nothing to lose, except maybe gas. Perhaps your game will sell for more.

Sure, it will be tough to elbow in on eBay's business, they virtually have a monopoly, but tearing down the empire has to start somewhere. And maybe most of these auction sites are doomed to fail, but if one of them lasts, at least that's a start. As a buyer and a seller, I'm pretty dissatisfied with eBay so I'm happy to see any site that challenges their iron clad grip achieve any level of success.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Ianoid.

ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is more than simply an auction site. It's an auction site that is filling up with collectors (over 550 to this day). This has many advantages at least in this stage of the game. These advantages are being seen and appreciated by the collectors who are buying and selling there every day.

What advanatages are there when dealing with collectors in the Chuckwagon community:

1) Very accurate descriptions of items being sold
2) Higher quality items
3) No out of whack shipping prices
4) Care in packaging
5) Fast paying

And our recently launched member forums are a great complement to our auction site. What better way to get to know the people you are buying and selling amongst.

This combination auction and forum environment is dedicated to nurturing the collector community spirit and assuring that ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is a safe haven for collectors to buy, sell and interact for years to come.
This site and game gavel should merge

The name is suprisingly catchy and easy to remember though and does have significant meaning , at least with older collectors. It is also know among the member community as: http://www.CdubZ.com.

And site traffic really has nothing to do with the name - Google Video Game Auctions or Auction Site and we are coming up first or second page. The brand is building every day and The Chuckwagon is a brand. I have been told the name was brilliant many more times than not so that is what I am going to stick with.

As far as Game Gavel. Not in my lifetime :) Two totally different sites. We may have a weird name but it's delivering a successsful auction product that can't be argued with -- members items are getting bids, simple as that.

And we were the first to offer members the forum community. Sets us miles apart. There really is no comparison. And we are nearly 200 members greater in population (up to 555 today) and achieved this in a much shorter time period (3 months) -- So the Chuckwagon is doing something right :)

ChaseTheChuckwagon.com has sold over $15,000 in auction sales in our first 17 weeks since we launched on March 24th. This proves that it is catching on and taking away from Ebay. We are also nearing 600 members which makes the Chuckwagon the fastest growing auction alternative dedicated to gamers.

There has also been alot of great new items listed from all generations of gaming so if you have yet to register, do yourself a favor and check it out. It's free to register and you may find a better, cheaper alternative to the norm.

If you are a seller, please give the Chuckwagon a chance to earn your business. It doesn't cost anything to try it out and if your items do sell it won't cost you near as much as Ebay. Rise up against Ebay and help us continue to grow so that all gamers will have a choice when it comes to buying and selling.

There is no better gaming, buying & selling community than ChaseTheChuckwagon.com.

Join today and experience it for yourself.

Just uploaded this weeks Auction Talk episode. Give it a listen to see what's happening on the fastest growing vid game auction site for classic and modern gamers:

http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/Auction%20Talk.mp3

We have had tons of items get listed this week from all eras. Classic to modern. Should be something for everyone up there now.

Also, we have started a new contest where you could win $150 in Cold Hard CA$H.

You can read about this new contest here:

http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/upload/showthread.php?t=208

We are up to 597 members through tonight and so far we have hosted about 4,000 auctions and sold over $15,000 in goods since we launched on March 24th, 2008. This is cool, because this is $$ that would have been sold on Ebay :)

I hope you will consider selling your old and new items on the Chuckwagon. You have nothing to lose to try and will help continue to grow and make this a great option for gamers everywhere.

I felt we are approaching a momentus occasion on ChaseTheChuckwagon.com. When we launched only a little over 4 months ago, our idea was met with more than a little skepticism. But as time has gone by, I think ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is filling a nice little niche within the auction world.

Here are some interesting tidbits of information and statistics since we launched:
 • Briskly grown to over 670 members, averaging over 160 new members each month . . . and growing.
 • Listed over 6,000 Items
 • Sold over $19,000 in Goods
 • Introduced an active community forum where members can get to know one another
We have risen into the top 120,000 Websites in the USA and around 550,000 worldwide. I know these are still big #'s but considering there are over 10 Millions website worldwide, in four short months the Chuckwagon is doing amazingly well. In addition to the 670+ members we are seeing tons of traffic each and every day which means people are bookmarking us and will register when they see something they want.
If you have yet to join, what are you waiting for. ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is less expensive to sell on, has a great variety of classic and modern gaming items getting listed each and every day, and will continue to grow for ever. It's not going anywhere. It's all about choices and now gamers everywhere have a legitimate choice for gaming auctions.
Climb on board the fastest growing internet auction site dedicated to gamers.

We have over 1,000 auctions currently running and have listed over 7,000 auctions and sold over $21,000 in merchandise since launching on March 24th, 2008. ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is the fastest growing, most successful auction alternative to hit the net. Help us continue to grow and become a successful alternative to Ebay. You have nothing to lose :)

When we launched http://www.ChaseTheChuckwagon.com way back in March 08, we were met with more than a share of skeptisism. Afterall, we were going up against Ebay and starting from ZERO. Zero members, Zero Running Auctions, Zero Activity, Zero Everything.

Now, fast forward to only 5 1/2 months later and here we are today. Getting ready to surpase 1,000 members, listing over 13,000 auctions and selling over $27,000 in merchandise.

In this short time, we have started the Chuckwagon community member forums:http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/upload/index.php

We've started our own streaming radio station to complement your shopping experience: http://www.RetroArcadeRadio.com.

We've maintained our weekly "Auction Talk" Podcasts: http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/AuctionTalk.mp3

We have been seeing our share of Sellers leaving Ebay looking to set up shop in a less expensive auction venue. We have a large population of international users as well.

If you are considering a new auction site, one that treats you like not only a customer but also a fellow gamer and collector, look no further. Join the nearly 1000 members who have decided they want a choice to Ebay. And for the majority of our sellers, a very profitable choice.

Just read the 1st page of this forum and look at all the Ebay bashing and complaints. Why put up with it any more? You now have a legitimate choice.

Do yourself a favor and at least look through our 2000+ listings and see the variety of items offered. There is no better place online to buy and sell video games, hands down. Give it a try, you'll be very glad to did.
