New Hastings Deal Restrictions

For all of us out there who have enjoyed trading in the $9.99 Wal-Mart 3-pack of games at Hastings, the gravy train has come to a stop. For those who are unfamiliar with the deal, Hastings allowed you to trade in 4 used games for 1 new one, with very few restrictions. You could buy a 3-pack of PS2 games at Wal-Mart for $9.99, add in one of your own crap games, and walk away with a brand new game.

Hastings now has a new rule that the games traded in must be worth at least $2.50 in store credit. In theory this shouldn't be too bad, but Hastings has marked many games down to the $2.00 level. The effect is that they are now EB-like in their exclusions. I brought 11 non-sports games with me to try today, and the only one that worked was Max Payne for the PS2.

It was fun while it lasted though. Nothing like getting a brand new game for $9.99 + the crappiest game on my shelf.

So they're still letting you trade 4 used for 1 new? A bunch of people are going to be happy if it's true everywhere and not just in your location.

I'm going to move this to Deal and shopping discussions, because it's not really a deal, more of a discussion on the deal.

definitley bad news...although I really only took advantage of this when they went 3 for 1 in the summer. I guess they started wondering why they were getting so many of the same 3 PS2 games ;)

I'm amazed they even accepted that. It's been trading for only a buck at GS for as long as I can remember.
