New info/pics/movie of Castlevania Ds

The video definitely demonstrates that the graphics are a LOT better than the GBA game. Much smoother, with a lot more animation. I just hope that the touch-screen functions turn out to be a fun and useful addition and not just something they felt they had to add.

I think it does take place on the top screen. Here's a link to some pics and some more info

Wow. I mean, it isn't the most impressive game graphically, but I feel it puts SOTN to shame. That looks like it will easily be the best Castlevania ever.

The gameplaty all takes place on the bottom screen. The top screen displays either the map or status screen (the select button toggles between them). Igarishi already said this was the setup in previous interviews. The game takes place on the bottom screen because it uses touch sensitive functions. You have to draw special "magic seals" to defeat bosses and there are parts where you can destroy weak bricks in the forground by tapping them.

Yeah, it looks awesome. I literally said "wow" outloud when I saw the 3D boss with the big hand. It's really shaping up to be a must-own title for the DS, and if Konami's GBA experience says anything then hopefully we can get a few sequals. I like the touch screen implementation too.

I really ,like the idea of drawing "seals" to finish off bosses. This is the kind of innovation I was hoping developers would get out of the system...

I think he meant better then Symphony...SOTN = Symphony of the Night

I played through Konami's Gamers' Day demo, and was very impressed. Breaking the crystals on the touch screen to carve stairs was great, and having to make a magical seal to beat the boss was cool, too. I agree that it's not breaking much ground graphically, but I can't wait to play the whole thing -- which they announced won't be out here until fall, if my notes are correct.

IGA is the man. I got an autographed, laminated Aria of Sorrow poster from him in '02 when I went to Japan for TGS, and had an 8-hour meeting at Konami. He was such a shy, nondescript guy back then, so it was funny to see him in all black with a cowboy hat and funky facial hair at the event.

I could've been more impressed with the new PS2 Castlevania, however -- even if it has lots of items and the level structure of SOTN.
