Since the current thread is well over 1200 posts, I'll be starting a new free magazine thread. The old thread can be seen here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60670
This thread will be a tribute to mousin, who was the first official magazine thread monitor.
This is the Ziff Davis Media Online Customer Service link: http://www.zdmcirc.com/service/index.html
Ziff Davis is the company that publishes PC Magazine, digital life, Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM),Computer Gaming Monthly (CGM) Games For Windows, Official Playstation Magazine (OPM), and several other magazines. You'll find these magazines being offered free quite often.
How to tell when your subscription is up
By looking at this picture that I stole from GuilewasNK, you can see that the second number underlined is "OCT12".

This indicates that the subscription will not expire until October 2012. This number varies for each magazine, but is usually one of the 2 underlined sections of characters. For Ziff Davis, you can also use their customer service link above.
Different Free-Magazine sites
-http://freebiepeople.com/
These offers will require you to sign up for an offer, and/or go through several pages of declining crap that you probably wont want to sign up for. These offers are only recommended if you desperately want an offer. I'll usually put a warning or some sarcastic remark in parenthesis if I post one, or any similar offer. If anyone is curious as to what it takes to get one of these, just see what brianmoy had to say. You'll also encounter a lot of spam, according to what Maklershed had to say.
How long do these offers last?
Pretty long, in fact, I think they never end.
I highly recommend everyone to create an account with them. Once you have, you'll need to list your job to apply for each offer. It is not uncommon to get declined for a magazine. Every magazine offer has different job requirements to successfully sign up for a magazine. What one person puts might work for them, but wont necessarily work for everyone else. I've noticed that at first, I got declined for several magazines, but now (since I've been a member for a couple of years now), I get accepted to almost every offer.
By the way, you dont have to enter you correct/current job. I've heard that changing your job often might get you a phone call from them, but they'll just ask you what your job is.
Once you are approved for an offer, you will have go through a survey and decline several more offers (unless you're interested). They will sometimes offer more magazines, as well. You can select "no" for every offer, and you will still get accepted for the subcription. Once that is done with, make sure you change the shipping address to "Home". You will then be finished and will receive a confirmation email.
How long do these offers last?
Depends on the popularity. Comic Book Buyers Guide lasted maybe a day. Black Enterprise has been available for over a year.
Almost exactly the same system as freebizmags.com
How long do these offers last? See freebizmags.com.
These offers are difficult to get. They only want to survey people by a certian age and sex. After that, they still narrow it down pretty close. If anyone gets one of these offers to work, please hook up the rest of us with the information you used.
How long do these offers last? Depending on popularity, they usually last about a week, at least, since they're so difficult to qualify for.
These are very difficult to get. I think you really have to work at somewhere specific to get them to work. I never have. Also, I think they limit you to just magazines in your field, so that limits you to most likely just one magazine from them. I usually dont post these offers, and unless someone wants me to, I wont.
How long do these offers last? Fairly long, since no one can ever sign up for them, they last quite a while.
Random Info
-FHM will no longer be published in the US:
http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2006/12/fhm_closes_and_the_sun_starts_1.html
(thanx CAG Maklershed)
-For Canadian residents who cant get in on a deal, try this link: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=280910
(thanx CAG Firestorm and scoop, from RedFlagDeals.com)
-To inform a magazine of an address change, check this link: http://www.sjev.net/magazineaddress.html
-"Stacking" is the term used for applying more than one offer for the same magazine. For example, a few months ago, EGM had about 3 different free subscription offers. This allowed all subscribers to add 3 more years to their subscriptions by signing up for each of those 3 offers under the same name/address/info.
-Computer Gaming World is now known as Games for Windows
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/02/goodbye-computer-gaming-world-hello-games-for-windows-magazine/
-Official Playstation Magazine will not be published after the Jan 2007 issue. (thanks yukine and Chacrana). For more information, click here. If you had remaining issues left on your subscription, they will probably be transfered to another Ziff Davis magazine (probably EGM). If you need more information, click on the Ziff Davis customer service link above.
10-24-06. I'm eventually going to add more to the original post, like info on the main sites that distribute the most free mags, and any other relevant information. If anyone has any advice, please post it here and let me know.
11-01-06. Special thanks to shrike4242 and CheapyD for stickying this newer thread and fixing the link on the main page (respectively).
I wont be going through the trouble of updating the original post with new offers, since they usually run out too soon anyway. New offers will be posted throughout the topic. If anyone has questions about different magazines, check the first 2 posts to look for a magazine that has been offered free before. If you do not see it there, just post and inquire. Your fellow CAGs and I will do our best to answer your questions.
Here is the original list of offers that are still good, and probably will be for a long time.
