Hey guys the phone calls are a scam, it was discussed earlier in this thread.

Somehow they get a listing of new magazine subscribers and try to sell you bogus subs.

Take the phone number and type it into a search engine.

Also ask them what magazines they are calling for, usually they will say a list of magazines that aren't even from the same publisher.

Good to know that it's a scam. I didn't give them my CC info, but it's still a little worrosome that they knew my mailing address...
 
Got my first issue of Newsweek yesterday. Yay for being up on my current events...as long as they're not more current than a week or two.
 
Tried for Popular Science, but even as a Buyer for a Medical Device company, I wasn't about to get it?! How is that possible? They must have too many subscribers. :cry:
 
Thanks for the ESPN sub! Just got my first issue of PlayBoy, the plastic wrap around it was torn a little so you could see inside. Thank god PlayBoy was advertising one of their sites because they covered that ad up with an advertisement for a Jeweler.

Ah, I may have been mistaken. I was doing it from my phone, and after completing it said "Click download to receive your digital files now". However, I just signed up again, and the download link just shows a tiny jpg of the cover of last month's issue.

just tried the post for playboy. It still works even though i didn't get a confirmation email. For the maxium one i did, even though you guys posted that it was digital copies.
 
I haven't paid for Maxim in over a decade and still have it until 2022. And I just got the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition from them...
 
I lapsed in my subscription for a few years, but at this point I have it until 2014.
No doubt I'll have plenty of time to extend it as long as this topic is around.
 
I remember with signing up with one of the deals for Maxim on this message board and getting like 3 issues and everything was cool. After my third issue didn't get an issue after for around 5 months. Get a call from someone saying "something went wrong with your Maxim subscription we can get you the rest of the free issues but you need to provide a credit card just for verification", I hanged up. A day or two later I get a call back saying "Hi mr. anon we need a payment for the maxim's you have receaced or we are going to send you to collections".

I told him something like this...

"look you punk ass bitch. I don't own a car, have no credit cards, no student loans, I am not going to buy a house anytime soon, and I just lost my job so please do send to collections. I am sure you can collect the shirt on my back cause that is all I have. You would be wasting your time". He got all mad and hanged up. Never had a problem or they called back since.

Just throwing that out there to be careful with some of the free mags.
