OK, I think it's time to upgrade. My current PC is a AMD Sempron 3100+ (1.81ghz) and it's really starting to show its age. Since if I upgrade processor I have to upgrade mb, and if I upgrade mb I have to get new ram & video...well, I figure I'd be just as well off to just buy a new pc & use this one for a file server.
I'm a little out of the hardware loop tho, since I haven't really worked in pc hardware for about 5 years now. So if I get something new, I wanna make sure it will last (but not cost me a fortune, I don't want "bleeding edge"). Also, I should say that this is NOT going to be a gaming pc. So I could care less about a fancy video card - that's why I have a 360 & PS3.
So, I'm looking at the Dell outlet store and they have some pretty good deals on some Dimensions w/ Pentium 4 3060's. The systems are averaging between 350-450, which is about my budget right now. Is this processor going to last me a while (running some intensive apps such as Photoshop)? Is this a good going price for this class system? Any deals anywhere I'm not aware of?
Thanks in advance!
