I recently bought a new computer, as my HP died. It is an ASUS ET2400IUTS-B010E 23.6-Inch Touchscreen All-In-One Desktop. It comes with 4gb of DDR3 Ram, but it's expandable to 8gb. I want to expand it by getting another 4gb. The ram apparently needs to be DDR3-1333 (Non-Ecc) or DDR3 PC3-10600 , I guess they mean the same thing or something, which seems like it's gonna be roughly $25 or less. Is ram pretty much ram, or is there a company i should stay away from or lean towards? Should i replace the other ram stick and make them both from the same company, does it make a difference? Thanks for the help everybody.

Always make sure you get the same identical sticks from the same company.

It's a prudent way to shop.

As for companies, I would look at what they are offering in terms of warranties and sales.

Limited Lifetime Warranty is always good and most of time it's free. If they go bad and you did not break them yourself (or by flood or fire) then you can get a new stick for free 1 time.

So you know for sure it has a 4gig stick in one slot and is ready for another 4gig in the other? You sure it's not like 2 sets of 2gigs in two slots? Also, how many ram slots overall? I can't imagine more than two in an all in one pc.

This is what it states it comes with in the description in the description and is all i can find:

4GB DDR3, 4 x SODIMM (expandable to 8GB)

I guess i could always wait until it arrives wednesday, to be sure, as i couldn't find much for pics or more detailed description, anywhere i looked on the net. I mainly just wanted to get some good ram for it and take it from 4 to 8, since they make it easy for non computer minded people like myself, to upgrade it. I didn't want to end up with some crappy company with a high failure rate or something like that. From what i can find elsewhere, alot of people seem to like Patriot, Corsair, G Skill or Mushkin.

Oh, and it has 2 slots.

You will need to get laptop DDR3 ram since it uses SODIMM ram. Kind of confused by your reply since you have it saying 4xSODIMM at top then 2 slots at the bottom. So is it 2 slots free and 4 slots total? or 1 4GB SODIMM in 1 slot and 1 slot free? You would only need 1 stick not 2 in the latter configuration.

It has 2 slots total. I'm not really sure if it comes with 1 4gb with one slot open, or 2 2gb. I'd guess 1 4gb from what the description reads.

You need to download CPU-Z and run that, it will tell you exactly how many slots you have and exactly what is installed in the various slots on your motherboard. It'll give you all the info you'll need to get more RAM. Installing the RAM on that type of computer might be an entirely different story.

Yeah, it is different on an all-in-one, atleast for Asus. There's a little panel on the back of the screen/computer, that supposedly all that you have to do is open it, and the ram is right there for you to change it out.
