This is the main character from GTA San Andreas - in case you didn't know.

The building in the back is the Los Santos Convention Center according to R* - the pic was also released by them.

I hope that was sarcasm, all the past GTA's have had white criminals. Hell one even featured pasty white englishmen like me.
 
I figure this game will cause a riot in some black community, somewhere so I am picking it up as soon as it comes out in case it gets banned or something.

I doubt it will cause much stir, but if it does it will most certainly be before the game is released. They aren't making it much of a secret that you're playing as a black guy

I'm sure, like other GTAs, it will treat all ethnic groups as equally criminal, so while there WILL probably be some whining, it won't lead to anything like the tweaking of Vice City.
 
Oh hell, sorry guys. I got called away then went to lunch, forgot I had posted this. I meant to post a follow up after a couple of reactions to say I was joking.

Though I will say I was a bit surprised at the move. I'm curious as to how this will be recieved by the hip-hop crowd.
 
I think it would be pretty damn cool to create your own character or a feature where you can map your face to the character with the Sony Eyetoy. That would really rule.
 
I don't think it's gonna be that big a deal unless they use tons of stereotypes for black people. I just can't wait till you play it and dave chapelle is that voice of the lead character, now that would cool.

I hope you can have dual pistols, so I can recreate the scene from from Training Day where Denzel gets pissed at people shooting at him after he robs the drug dealer's house.

I think most certainly you;ll be holding guns sideways as is the "gansta" customary style.

Frankly I've lost count of how many time i've heard people say they're tired of playing white guys in GTA, now they finally get their wish and get to have all the black on black crime they could ever want! (j/k!!)

Ouch just thought about how much black on white crime they'll get to commit in this one now!(J/K!!... sorta ;))

One thing I noticed from the previous pics is that he dosent have the jacket in this one, I guess that means you get to alter your outfit a bit more now, I kinda like that.

Anyway, I am surprised that no one has said anything about the building behind JC since it is supposed to be the building where E3 was held.

I think some of the fun would be taken out if the main character has already experienced being shot 9 times.
 
so why exactly isnt Tommy the main character again? Tommy was just startin to be cool.. even started talkin and shit.. now they give me a random stranger to control..

i cant remember what all Tommy said at the end of GTA VC, but did they have him say anything about quitting the shit he does, or retiring, or something?
 
I am real excited for this game. It is one of the reasons why i rebought a ps2. I can not wait for this and FFXII. Those are 2 titles i want so bad.
 
that would be tight if you could create your own chartacter, it would just add to the legacy of GTA. Like always there are going to be people whining and bitching about their kids playing it and the african-american population may be offended by this, but i am almost 100% sure that this is not the intentions of rockstar games and if it is they should be run out of business regardless of their sales or whatever. if they are smart enough to make these tons and tons of money, they should be smart enough not to do anything that may jeopardize their business and their excellent line of video games.

I don't think anyone should take offense to this stuff like the 50 Haitians that got ticked off about the last game. It's just a videogame people, find something to fight for like fixing your homeland and making sure the get better pay than what they are getting in the sweatshops. Figures that none of the people complaining actually want to do anything helpful to their community or for their people because it's just easier to bitch and moan than to do anything worthwhile.
