New Pokemon game

I have never played a Pokemon game and never watched the show, but I think the new game looks fun from what I've read online. I am wondering what Pokemon fans think of the new game. Does it seem like it'll be a good RPG? What character should I team up with if there is a difference in their abilities. I plan on buying it next week and hope it's fun.

As a side note: At EPCOT they have a big Pokemon section, but sadly no Nintendo merchandise. I was hoping they'd have stuffed animals of Nintendo characters.

Waiting for Diamond and Pearl more than these ones that are coming out.

Yes, Mystery Dungeon for DS. I've just never been interested in Pokemon, but this game looks good.
