Ok I don't have a PS2 yet still rocking PS. :)

Well now I ordered GT4 at overstock yesterday, so now I need a PS2.

I really want a new one and not a refurb, and of course CHEAP.

Any help is appreciated.

Ya know, Someone at SONY is getting an ass rimming for this. These have been out of stock just about everywhere since November.

Instead pf price just be happy to find one... $149.99.

I guess I will be playing with the old PS for awhile because there is no way I'm paying $150 for a PS2. maybe there will be a price drop in the summer.

A price drop to $129 or $119 if you're lucky. Why not just get it now, the extra 30 bucks is worth it to have it for a few more months. If you're going to wait all the way til summer you might as well wait for the PS3.

There's not really a shortage anymore, I see them all the time.. the new ones, anyways.

OP, check a pawn shop. Have it tested before you leave. I've seen them as cheap as $75 at some.

Yeah I think the ps2 shortage is offically over. Last Wednesday I went shopping and saw at least 5 and up to 30 at all the electronic stores I went to.

I got the JP version over the weekend, a friend flew it in for me. It was way smaller than I expected, the TV commercials show it as a slimmer version of the original, but it is actually way small. There's a ton of space in the box, which was about the same size as the box for the original PSX. They compacted the hell out of it, if it weren't for the need to be compatible with existing peripherals (controller and memory card ports) I think they could have made it even smaller.

The unit seems to be slightly louder than the original PS2 when the laser head accesses the DVD, but nowhere as bad as the original PSX or DC.

With the amount of cheap PS2 games out there, I think the $149 will start to pay for itself soon after a couple of good game purchases.
they are still in short supply in some places, but they are starting to show up again
Working in retail...it's still in short supply they are constantly in and out of stock at the Best Buy wherehouse and the TRU wherehouse here in socal.

We recieved 12 cases of ps2s today but most are on hold for next weeks ad...I looked for the ad but I guess we have not recieved the ad yet for next week.

Good idea from a retail standpoint. Hold onto those systems so you can sell them next week when they're in the ad. Rather than just putting them out now and selling them immediately.
I just want a new old model PS2...
its going to be hard to find these new at stores now, I only see them used now. You will prob have to look at independent stores or online to find a new old model ps2.

It's nearly hopeless... I try ebay, but it's hard to find a new condition console.

I was STARING at the online bundles when the PS2 shortage hit... I didn't believe it was true until it was too late.

What a concept...hold product for an ad...so not to be like other companies and not have what's in our ad when the ad comes out and the wherehouse has none...that'll look really great for the store and company....

Think about what you're saying...this is CAG...roto hold is good that means there'll be some kind of bundle next week (most likely). Use your brain for a sec before posting.

Yes the company holding onto product is good from a CAG customer's standpoint, but it's not a smart decision for the company economically. I majored in that for 4 years, plus this common sense thing I have keeps kicking in.
