New PS3 owner

Hi everyone!

Im really excited to have finally crossed over to the dark side lol. I have been a xbox fanboy far to long. After 2 red rings and a recently failed disc drive, Im offically done with MS for a while. I have a few questions and would appreciate some good feedback.

1) HDMI Cables---Whats the best cable for a reasonable price? No more than $20 dollars.

2) Must Play PS3 exclusives?

monoprice.com .. hdmi cables for $3.. hdmi cables are extremely marked up at retail. $3 cables from monoprice are just as good as $35 or $40 cables from Best Buy.
 
Exactly what they said for the HDMI cable.

For exclusives...Uncharted 2. If you buy 1 game for your PS3 make it that one.

Other good exclusives are Demons Souls or Heavy Rain. Look into them first. If they look interesting then get them and if they dont then do not get them. Theyre both great games though if you're into the genre.

Now though is a great time to buy a PS3 because of all the upcoming exclusives (all are supposed to release in 2011):

Motorstorm Apocolypse
Resistance 3 (possibly 2011)

Little Big Planet is game that I absolutlely love but I don't wanna overhype it. I've read a lot of people complaining that they were disappointed in it, probably because so many originally were creaming their pants over it.( I'll admit the game does have some flaws, mainly the controls aren't as good as they can be).

I'll just say that Little Big Planet is the most amazing'/awesome flawed and disappointing game ever


Edit- though you're better off just waiting for LBP2 to come out in about a month. You can play all the user created levels for the first one in the sequel
 
Wondering about a PS3 componant cable (red/green/blue). Don't have HDMI port on my tv, any decent brands (brick & morter stores only) cheap (as in under $20)?

As for games...I'm kinda overwhelmed by the amount lol. I want to get Killzone 2 but seeing Killzone 3 is coming out in February I might wait, but I'm definitely buying Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2. As for multiplatform games I might buy Bioshock again. I absolutely loved it on 360, and I'm curious to play the extra content released for the PS3 version.

best bet is amazon even though its not a B&M to be honest I got a set for my ps2 for $7 shipped and it fits both systems

Congrats. All the games you mentioned are solid choices. I'd add the God of War collection to the list as well as LittleBigPlanet.

Also, try and play the first Uncharted before the 2nd. It's not really necessary but it's an excellent game and you can then appreciate the improvements from the first to the 2nd.

My recommendations:

Demon Souls
Valkaria Chronicals
3D Dot Game Heroes

If you like metal gear solid the get MGS4.

Also gran turismo 5 if you like racing games.
 
Even though I mostly game on the Xbox 360, Demon's Souls was pretty much my favorite game of 2009. I highly recommend it.
