Hey everybuddy, just giving you a heads up on a possible new rarity for you collectors like me out there.

The game is RAVE MASTER by Konami for Gamecube.

I've been a fan of the manga for a while and I had no idea the game was released in America until I saw it at Gamecrazy the other day. It was $29.99 but I figured I'd be a true CAG and search for a better price online.

NO ONE EVEN HAS IT LISTED. Its not in Gamestop, EB, hell even Gamecrazy's website doesn't have it. So I went back today and picked up their ONLY copy for $29.99. Seeing how it is put out by Konami, maybe its a small print run like that Firefighter game (I can't think of the name of it, sorry)?

I could be horribly wrong and the game might be everywhere soon, but I sure as hell can't find it anywhere else and from what I hear its supposed to be like POWERSTONE with Rave Master characters, so its worth it in my book!

Happy hunting!

There's some completed Rave Masters on ebay that's slightly cheaper than yours I think but then again, it's ebay. Also, thanks for the heads up. I forgot this game was released here. Never seen the anime nor manga but I might get this.

As of right now, I don't think it's too rare, but it definately has potential. I bet a year from now no one will have it listed.. i've read little to no coverage on it, so good call, GB.

I've seen the game at a number of stores, always blew it off. If it's only good for rarity's sake, will continue to do so. Anyone play this yet?

Most of the reviews on Gamerankings seem pretty positive. I loved Power Stone, so I'll probably keep my eyes open for this one.

I saw this at Fry's just yesterday, I belive it was like $20. Don't quote me onthat since I am not completely sure. But Ithe only reason I noticed it was because it had a low price.
I made a thread about this game a while ago, and both places I listed in that thread still have it in stock (GameExpress and Toysrus.com):

I've also seen a bunch of copies at Fry's.

Edited to add: btw OP, since you have the game now, what's your opinion of it? Are the voices for the US dub of Rave Master tolerable?
From the epsoide I seen on CN it is acceptable.

Ok, so I finally had some time to sit down and play the game last night.

Overall, its a pretty simple 4-player 3D fighter in the vein of Ergheiz or Power Stone. All the stages are pretty much a big, flat square, but they all have really nice 3D background objects and are very faithful to the manga/anime. The characters look pretty good, nothing super impressive in this day and age but very faithful to the manga/anime (I also noticed ELIE's boobs jiggle, so that's kinda fun too I guess, lol). The game is broken up into Story mode, Vs. Mode, Free Mode and a few option modes too. Story mode lets you go through the first arc of the Rave Master story using 1 of 5 characters. As far as I know, the story changes depending on who you use, but I've only gone through it with the main guy (Haru Glory). The gameplay is fairly straightforward: you (and sometimes a partner) against 1-2 opponents. Item boxes are randomly spawned and contain power-ups and various weapons. The thing that I thought was really cool is the fact that ANYONE can use ANY weapon! Like your character can lose his weapon (and pick it right back up if you want) OR fight bare-handed OR grab your enemy's dropped weapon/a randomly spawned weapon. Its not a huge deal to most, but if you're a fan of the anime/manga, using the beast sword or ELIE's tonfa blasters is pretty cool. I have yet to try out multiplayer, but it looks to be pretty fun. As for free mode, its kinda like a survival mode of sorts from what I can tell. You pick a character and keep fighting opponents until you run out of lives.

As for the voices, they only come up in fights (the story is told through static pictures and text), and they're not too bad overall. It is kinda cheesy when Haru says something like "My pride! That's where I get my strength!" after EVERY fight, but its more funny than annoying.

Overall I'd recommend the game to fans of the manga/anime at full price, but everyone else should probably try before you buy.
When I saw it at Fry's, it was $29.99. This was in the Bay Area stores tho.
checked it out again when I went this weekend and your right it was $29.99 but they had one with a sticker that was still sealed but it said reduced to $26.99. I don't kno why or what was wrong with that one but it was a fews bucks cheaper.

I played the demo for it at last summer's e3 (I'm a big fan of the series, so I was very happy to see it's demo tucked away in a corner). Unfortuantely, I didn't like it so much, heh. Although I only remember it being 2P, and the special moves being fairly awkward, and the voices a little repetative. But then again, I suppose it wasn't finished yet, hopefully they improved it along the way. ^^;;

But I'm a big fan of anything that lets me use elie's tonfa blasters, so if I see it used or for cheaper then $30 you can bet I'm picking it up.

That would be an opened, used, and then resealed game. I have gotten a couple at Fry's that way. I don't know what the deal is, since they don't take back opened games. One that I got that way (check to see if it has the "melted" shrink wrap instead of the factory-sealed folded type) for sure had been used. It was in very good condition and the manual looked untouched, but the disc was dusty and had the types of minor abrasions that come from slight handling.

So just be careful with those "reduced" games at Fry's.

yeah, that's probably what it was. I think they still use those return item stickers too, so they would be easy to spot. Seriously, they'll take back anything depending on what monkeys they got working in returns. The other day, I found a Lion King DVD in the DVD racks that had a sticker that said "Missing disc" (it was unsealed, and when you opened it... lo and behold, disc 1 was missing)... Apparently it wasn't supposed to be in the racks, but some Fry's peon had put it there anyways.

This game inherently has a low print run. But then again so does Strike Force Bowling and Pinball Hall of Fame. Whether that means it will be hard to find later, who knows... Like what's been said already, there are still a number of online and B&M places to buy this. The low print run was justified as there is very low demand for it. But if anything's gonna jump start demand, it's threads like these that will implant the idea in people's heads that they need to get this 'cause it's soon to be rare and valuable.

Is the flower wall guy and the blob that rides on another blob playable? If so I'd get it. Sorry if I don't have the names, I stopped reading the manga a while ago, but I'd be interested in the game for sure.
I saw it at my local Media Play like a week ago for 24.99.
thanks, i hope local media play will have it for the same price.

They just reviewed the game on X-Play. It got 3 out of 5. It does seem a little like Powerstone but the environments aren't very interactive and the playing surface doesn't have varying heights. I think I'll pass unless I see it for $4.99.

It is an awful game in my opinion. I've never seen the show nor cared even a little about anime so I can't buy into that aspect. As a game itself, it's horrible. You can win ANY match against the computer by picking up a gun and just tapping the shoot button. You never have to move, period. The stages are non-interactive, the weapons are boring and the combos are limited. The game offers far less than the original Powerstone let alone Powerstone 2.

I hope it doesn't become needlessly valuable just because it is rare, because frankly, it sucks.
