Hey,

I havent verified it yet but on Nintendophiles this was posted:

"1. They game can be played in first person or one of two new views. They are basically slight variations on a close third person camera.
2. It must be viewed in widescreen. If your tv doesn't support the 16:9 aspect ratio, the game will feature black bars on top and bottom of the screen to make sure you experience the game to its fullest on a 4:3 monitor. HDTV users, the game supports 480 progressive scan. This is needed because,...
3. In 3rd person, Leon fills the far left side of the screen. It feels like you are playing a first person shooter even withour Leon on the screen.
4. Controls are them same as before. However, health and ammo will now be onscreen.
5. Even with the old controls, the new views make it feel like an entirely different game.

Now for story:SPOILERS!!!!!

1. RE4 takes place in 2004, 6 years after RE2.
2. Umbrella is gone and with them,...the zombies.
3. Leon is hired by the president to guard his daughter. Before he can take the job, she is kidnapped and taken to a village in south america where all the villagers hunt him down in an eerie trance.
4. The worlds are completely wide open.
5. No more door animations or pre-rendered cutscenes. Everything is done in-engine.
6. Areas feature a few very brief loadtimes.
7. Enemies will react to damage done to them in places. Shooting an enemie in the foot will make them hobble.
8. Villagers are armed with sickles, axes, pitchforks, and many more sharp objects.Which they can throw at you. These are not mindless zombies.
9. You can shoot the thrown objects out of the air. If you time it right.
10. There is an action button. For instance, you can shoot an enemie and then quickly close the gap and kick them in the chest. Also to move objects in front of doors to keep villagers from you. Also to puch a ladder full of enemies off from you and more.
11. In a later level, you are in complete darkness and unable to see anything until the moonlight illuminates the villagers.
12. The villagers are smart. In later levels they get smarter. For instance, if you shoot at one, it won't continue to go towards you. It may run away and if you follow him, it could purposefully lead you to an area where 6 more await with bow guns. They are more human.

In the levels the play, the action was intense with many villagers after them. This was just the begining of the game.

There are plenty of photos and the game looks amazing. They say it is easily the best looking cube game yet."

Sounds very good...

I only subscribe for the gamestop coupons. I wish the RE series would have died before it ever started

Ditto. I've found the RE games unplayable. Prerendered backgrounds, haphazzard aiming and general controls, and limited movement don't make a good recipe for a game IMO. Although I've yet to play Dead Aim, The 1st person or a true 3d person control scheme would cater more to my taste.

I've always liked the RE series and it sounds like they might be screwing it up, and I can't believe this might not have any zombies in it.

You're full of shit. I was doubting the "forced widescreen" option, but then I knew you were yanking me when you said "umbrella's gone....with them, the zombies." There's no way in hell that Capcom would expand upon Umbrella in all 5 RE games, only to say "they're gone...zombies too." Fighting Hindu-Men sounds awfully terrifying too.

VIP,

Thanks I am obviously so full of it that its overflowing onto you.

This is what I read at another site and apparently if you check the other site.

ACTUALLY NOW THEY HAVE POSTED IT AS OFFICIAL NEWS HERES THE LINK:
http://www.n-philes.com/php/epzyyfpvlaezylkyellz.php

What the hell.

ANyway they just playtested the begining so whos to say that zombies dont appear. and from what I can tell it will be about voodo and to my understanding that is where the whole zombie thing originated from..

so wait and see.

Thanks queegqueeg. Did you get that name from DX: IW, I remember one of the coffee companies had a name like that or close to something like that. Those pics have definitely risen my hopes up a bit.

^bump^
I have a lot of faith in Capcom, they make great games and I've been looking forward to this one. Thanks for the post.

I thought Capcom still had a NDA on the title? I know a playable version was unveiled recently, but all media outlets were supposed to keep shut.

To keep it simple. It sounds like pure shit. Plain and simple shit. I'm not believing any of it till Capcom says "Hey asshole, we've changed Resident Evil completely because we feel this is a good idea".

No umbrella? No zombies? No sale from me.

"5. No more door animations or pre-rendered cutscenes. Everything is done in-engine. "

Thank you! Damn worthless door animation is really old now... it might have been aceptable for a few of the Resident Evils, but I'm hoping it's gone in the next...

In bad news not related to another title in this worthless series being made, this month's GI had no Gamestop coupons :(

It looks awesome to me. I like Resident Evil and find it to be great.

Killer 7 also looks awesome, mainly because its so different. The fact that the cripple's personality emerge in the real world to do his hits is awesome.

This was also posted in the news feeds at the bottom of the the CAG front page a week ago. The info was leaked, I'm betting by capcom themselves.

well, both links in this thread have had the pics taken down. Guess ill have to walk down to gamestop after work :)

Hey no problem. I am guessing umbrella is still around etc. they just did this to get the game some hype in my opinion. As far as I know its only 2 days until the Gameinformer hits shelves so its not a long wait.

The sites took them down due o the legal aspect of it and copyrights etc.

its mid march before the NDA wears off.

it's in the new Game Informer, and the series sounds like it'll finally be fun with the new view. no zombies either. Killer 7 looks pretty cool also.
