Game Fanatic: To become a GH the game has to sell a couple hundred thousand copies in the US. You think Folklore did that? Yeah, neither did I. However it did become a "PS3 the best" title in Japan, and a "Platnium" label title in Europe. Games like Disgaea 3, and Valkyria Chronicles will likely suffer the same fate.
Heavenly Sword on the otherhand likely did sell a couple hundred thousand in the US. Although I think it was still a disapointment along with Lair, and Haze. So it may just end up with retailers clearing out any remaining stock.
GH/PH/PC games are a rip, for every gem that gets the honour and drops in price there are 5 or 6 more that just get a artificial price increase just to milk sales and dupe clueless parents into buying games for $30 that had long since dropped in price and whose market value was under $10 and then because they are GH/PH/PC the stores will keep them in stock and selling them for longer than they should at a price that is a ripoff as most smart consumers should be able to get alot of newer releases for the same price. And they don't like to give this "honour" to the real bestsellers like Heavenly Sword/Uncharted because they want you to continue to buy them for full price.
It's good, and it is bad. It's good in that many out of print games can go back into print as a GH (Okami, a few Atlus and NIS America games, etc.) for a lower price. Sure it hurts the resale market, but atleast more people get a chance to buy it, and enjoy the game.
