New sealed copy of Perfect Dark worth anything....

wolfchild

CAGiversary!
I was just wondering, I have a new factory sealed, not a reseal game of perfect dark for the N64, I was wondering, is it worth much, will it be? I'm thinking of opening it and playing it, but if it's going to be or is worth much, I won't do it! Anyone know?

They sell for $7 or less shipped on eBay. Many don't seem to sell at all.

There were a couple dozen of them at my local Toys R Us priced at $1 for several months. I believe they couldn't get rid of them at that price and eventually dumped them all.

I say go ahead and play it.
$5. Toys R Us had them around here a year ago still.
Yes, I picked up $5 worth at TRU myself last year just for the heck of it. :D
I picked up 3 Conker's at that price at TRU and they went for 15-20 bucks each!
Conker was harder to come by though, as it was released near the end of the N64. A lot of people missed it, so it would sell for more money. PD though, can still be found at my TRU sealed...

I wouldn't suggest playing it. 3D graphics on the N64 look like crap compared to today's systems and the controller is awful for playing FPSs. After playing FPSs with two anolog sticks on the Xbox and PS2 I just can't go back to one stick and those yellow arrow buttons.

Thanks for everyone's reply, it helped me to make a decision, go ahead and play it, I hear it was an awesome game in it's time! BTW I have conker's bad fur day, in immaculate opened complete condition, everything is included, box A- condition inner carton A- condition instructions A- condition all paperwork ie.. warnings for play on projection tv, damage etc.... How much do you think this is worth? I went to amazon, people were selling new sealed copies for $42.00 and up. People selling used incomplete copies were selling for $22.00 and up. Mine like I said is pretty damn near mint condition, I think I'll hold onto this sucker, don't you all think? One last thing, when it comes to video games and investing in games, what are some of the conditions that regulate it's value? I know RPG's are the most collectible, ie.. chrono trigger for SNES, any ideas? Thanks (*_*) :)

Aside from certain RPGs, the more popular it is/was, the less valuable it is. Mario 3 will net you only a few bucks, while crap like Bubble Bath Babes will pull in a few hundred. Complete will cost even more.

The Conker price is inflated, probably because of the re-release. You can find them for $10 easy.

Oh, and Digital Press will help you too. :speaktothehand:)

think of how many copies of halo 2, or MGS3 are still floating around sealed and overproduced.

Perfect Dark and to a lesser extent, CBFD were like that for the N64.

You might have a chance at getting something decent for it when PDZ comes out and if makes a big splash on the market.

I'd keep it though, outside of the framerate (which was a problem even in it's day) it's one of the best games I've ever played.

Yea PD is definitely one of the best n64 games. I played that thing to death back in the day. really fun in 4 player combat and co-op story mode

I loved goldeneye. I used to kill everyone in multiplayer, I'd play 3 on 1 (me being the 1) and I still always won. I also liked one of the levels cause there were 2 secret areas where you could walk through walls and hide in them.

I hated perfectdark, I couldn't do anything in it. I'd be walking, walking and then falling. I'd be shooting someone about to kill them, and then falling. I hated it.
when it comes to video games and investing in games,
Do not buy games as an investment. That is a horrible horrible idea. a VERY FEW games that originally sold for $50 now sell for like $80, after 10 or 15 or 20 years.

Put your money into some financial product, such as mutual funds or bonds if yo uwant to invest. Buy games to play or just collect for fun.

Yeah you'd be better off buying a 50 dollar bond.. or get into CDs at your local bank.. better return on your money.. I only buy games that

I got Perfect Dark a few weeks ago and its really good, theres a lot of non story mode things to do like a firing range and a combat simulator. The only complaint I had with it was the frame rate slowing down.

I don't buy video games as an investment really, I do have a couple, that I'll hang on for awhile though. I was just interested in finding out what makes games rare and the price of things, is all. Yes I do agree, bonds and stocks have more of a chance to be valuable above video games.

Bonds are useless now, at least the normal ones. Buy a 50 dollar bond, and in 18 years or so it's worth 100, but they take out 30-35 percent of the 50 it went up. Considering inflation, I can't see it being worth it.
