so i just started using ebay. i sold a few things and made some money on paypal. last night i left my laptop unattended and accidentally left my ebay account open and up. my little brother (who is 10 and I guess knows how to use computers) goes onto mine and begins bidding on all kinds of pokemon card auctions. thankfully, these auctions are only for $2, $3, $4 and the like, and there's only 3 left as the other 4 I have been outbid on. One is about to end in a few hours and I'm just wondering if there's any way to cancel a bid? if not I suppose $2 won't break me that bad, hopefully someone outbids me on the other couple though.

The link provided in the previous post details that there are only a few valid reasons for canceling a bid, and your situation isn't among them.

I think that the best you can really do is contact the seller prior to the ending, explain your case, and hope that they are sympathetic to your situation. Otherwise, I would suggest just paying.

you can't cancel a bid with less than 24 hours to go, I believe. Since you are new to eBay, I'd just bite the bullet and pay for the items if you win. Heck, think of it as pretty cheap feedback.

Hhahaha. Great resposes

I contacted the last few sellers and all of them were surprisingly understanding so I lucked out, but yeah worst case scenario I would've been out $5-10.

Another thing I've noticed is the last couple people winning auctions on my items I have listed that clearly state "I only accept paypal for payment" and then them messaging me saying they don't have paypal

as a way to extend the courtesy that was given to me though, I've let these last 2 people off, but I don't know how many more time's I'm gonna take the hits to listing fees to let ppl off..

Personally I would gladly take other payment since you dont get hit with paypal fees. Ask for a USPS money order

I did too, I said maybe you could pay thru some other source, and he said "no I'll try to set up a paypal" .... couple hours go by... "didnt work, would you be upset if i said i didnt really even want the item anymore?" lol, suuuure i guess.

And you're going way to easy on these people. If you stated paypal only and then they tell you they don't have paypal contact ebay and let them know the customer is refusing to pay.

I just check the box that says that the bidders must have a paypal account in order to bid when setting up the auction.

There's a branch of the bank I have my account in less than a mile in either direction from my house, so it's definitely NOT a hassle to me. Besides which, I use the USPS MO's to pay for other shit I gotta send out, so I just cash em at the post office when I get them in from people on CAG.;)

Honestly, I do not understand the big stink people make about people wanting to use a form of payment other than Paypal. To me, I'll always prefer cash in hand versus some electronic zip zap shit.

But hey, personal preference and all that.

FYI: I DO have a PP account myself, I just choose not to use it unless I'm BUYING something on eBay. Otherwise I avoid it like the plague due to the fees.

wait.. wtf?! hes 10 and hes bidding on pokemon cards? pokemon cards were all the craze when i was in middle school which was over 10 years ago. am i missing something ? lol a 10 year old shouldnt even know what pokemon cards are since the whole pokemon craze died b4 he was even born.

Eh, I've had some issues with checks/money orders in the past. My one PayPal issue was resolved fast and I had my money. It's easier for me to deal in PayPal for online transactions anymore, especially since all else I can wait 3 days for it to transfer. Normally I hit the transfer button as soon as I have the cash.

You know they still make Pokemon games, the cartoon, a lot of merchandise and cards, right? I run a Pokemon League at a local game shop, people from the original generation of Pokemon still play and younger kids know the new stuff and play. It's still alive and kicking.

Maybe im missing something but Pokemon video games are pretty popular aren't they? I would imagine that would translate into kids wanting the cards. Could be wrong though.

The Pokemon League is still going on? I didn't even know the card game was still in existence.
