PSP arriving soon, need to pick up a few games. Never touched the system before. So far, plans include:

Patapon
God of War: CoO
Burnout Legends
maybe GTA:LCS

I find the MGS series less than entertaining, so Portable Ops is out. Wouldn't mind a puzzle game....Gamespot gives Lumines praise, but it looks somewhat boring. Any must-have recommendations? Thanks in advance.
 
Update your firmware and hop on the PS Store for some demos. Ratchet & Clank Size Matters is pretty fun, but a little easy. Cheap though. Haven't had my PSP long enough to recommend anything else.

Dead Head Fred looks amazing too.

Depends on what type of games you like to play. Lumines is awesome if you're into musical puzzle games, I only play one strategy game Warhammer 40,000 Squad command and it's addicting, Socom fireteam bravo 2 or resistance retribution are my favorite shooters, the wipeout and burnout series are both excellent racing games, and dead head fred or daxter are both humorous games.
 
I highly recommend Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. I was addicted to that game for a few days till I beat it. Great puzzle, I didn't think it was that hard.

Me and My Katamari, imo, is the best Katamari game, and I have all 4.

Brave Story is also a very good RPG (probably the best original RPG on PSP), also the two Star Ocean remakes are pretty good, if you're into them.

Syphon Filter games

you can pretty much get all except for 2 on the PSP, and Combat Ops turned out to be pretty fun for a bundled game with the GOW Edition.

Crush is amazing and greatly underated = cheap!
