New TRU clearance as of 4/14

Finally, I have reason to write again as a whole bunch of games are finally going on clearance! Of course, some of these games are only going down $.01, from a .99 to a .98 price point, but this puts them in the 'clearance' category and therefore eligible for the extra '20% off' currently offered on all clearance.... Also, the percentage taken off clearance will be going up over the next couple of weeks, and though I couldn't get an exact timetable I do know future signs will read "Save up to 80% when you take an extra 50% off". Right now they read "Save up to 70% when you take an extra 20% off", so make of that what you will. In any case, I suggest grabbing the games you want ASAP and holding onto them unopened (if you're a really hardcore CAG, anyway) until the dust settles; TRU will definitely honor their prices should clearance go lower over the next few weeks after you buy them.

For the lazy or math challenged, remember:
19.98 - 20% = $16 ; 14.98 - 20% = $12 . By 4/14, if clearance hits 30%...well, even lower prices of course!

I can confirm pricing on Elite Beat Agents at a local Toys R Us here in Massachusetts.

The game had a red clearance sticker on it for $19.98.
I had the clerk price check it; it scanned for $14.98.
I agreed to buy it, and, after the checkout process, it was discounted to $12.98.

Not sure what to think when CAG's pricing is more reliable than the stores', but thanks!

Any price that ends with an "8" will be 20% off. Ends sometime in May I think (was posted earlier in this thread).

Went to TRU today and picked up Every Extend Extra and Gurumin for $17.72 total. Not a bad deal. I was thinking of getting Elite Beat Agents, and then maybe Rondo of Swords and asking the $10 be taken off of Rondo. If this can be done, please post. Wouldn't be so bad picking up Rondo of Swords for only $19.99.

well...it may be possible, but it does have that second game must be of equal or lesser value paragraph...so chances are, it'll be Rondo for full, and 10 bucks off elite beat agent without the 20% off-happened with me when I tried to buy some other game that had similar pricing/discount setup

The TRU nearest to me has Picross in stock but doesn't have Rondo of Swords in stock yet. Another nearby TRU has RoS but doesn't have Picross. :headache:

^Which game did they scan first?

Anyways, It doesn't hurt to try. You never know(remember the CC glitch?). I'll post my findings if TRU gets RoS in stock or maybe I just might pick it up with EBA at the other TRU.
 
I have some questions, if someone can help me out. I probably will not have time to read through the read for all answers & maybe this can help others too.
1 How does the $10 deal work, how do you best utilize it? I read the posts above they seem to be conflictual.
2 Will all clearance items automatically get all additional clearance %'s taken off without having to ask the clerks?
3 So any games or accessories ending in .98 are clearance?

Only handheld games curently. Cost must be above $10 on each item.

Correct, any item in the store ending in .98 is clearanced.

So any handheld games $10+ you buy 2 you get $10 off the total price of them combined? Will all clearance items automatically get all additional clearance %'s taken off without having to ask the clerks? How long is the handheld deal good for?

Someone may have seen a sign with dates at their store, but I have not. Any clearance item of any nature (video games, board games, clothes, etc) in the store should have the 20% taken off automatically.
 
I've got to go back and get my $10 from buying Jeanne D'Arc and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance on PSP.

When I was in there earlier, I bought the E-Vex Video Goggles for $109.00 (20% off from $129.99), but I'm not sure I should keep them. Has anyone else bought or tried these video goggles? Apparently, you can watch your games, movies, etc on them and they appear as a 35 inch image display. I'm trying to see if they're good or not. Otherwise, I might return them since SNK Classics is out and I'm waiting on several other games I might want...
 
Just got back from TRU and the sign said the $10 would come off of the game of equal or lesser value. Also, it stated that the sale ends on 5/3.
I went with the intention of buying Picross and Brain Age 2 to get them for 24 total. I got Picross for 12 last week by itself so why not get BA2 for 12 too and return Picross on the first purchase receipt. But then I saw they had Race Driver and I haven't seen it too much and don't want it to be one of those less common games that goes out of stock and I never get so I ended up with BA2 and RD for 30 total. Thanks to letting us know about this sale!

Thanks for the info, I probably won't buy anything, but I'm going to check it out and see if there's anything real cheap since I'll be near TRU.
 
The pair I found was in the R-Zone area, although they might be in the DVD player section if your TRU has them. There was only one pair at the TRU I went to, and they had them shackled up in that security web thing that looks like Lex Luthor's shirt from the Superfriends cartoon.

Apparently, they are on the TRU website for the $129.98 price without the discount, but I wouldn't think there would be lots of these video goggles just lying around for sale at various stores.

When my store had these, we kept them with the dvd players and tv's. You might want to also check there.

I wouldn't be able to tell you. I think we got in about 10-12. We actually sold out of these before they went clearance. One guy said he was going to let me know how it was, but I havn't seen him in my store in a few months. None were ever returned so hopefully that is some good news.
 
I got a 360 wireless headset for $24.xx (marked down to $30, with 20% off). They had cables on sale too (no HDMI cables in sight, plenty of VGA though).

When I went back for my price adjustment, it took the woman at the counter about 15 minutes to figure out what the hell I was talking about and she still gave me too much money back (she took an additional 20% off the already discounted items in addition to the $10). I didn't stop her since the manager on duty last week refused to refund me my $30 back on the 360 games I had bought the previous week.

Hasn't anybody tried those E-Vex Goggles? I think they're going back tomorrow...maybe.
 
Just got back from buying 2 of the higher capacity PSP batteries that are on clearance for $10.86 and picked up Godfather: Blackhand for the Wii @ $15.98. I'd regretted not picking it up on my first trip. :p
