I'm new here, been lurking and wanted to share this. I don't know if it's the right board, but just let me know.

I went to Game Crazy today for the 2 4.99 for 5 deal (got Rogue Squadron 2 and Xenosaga), and saw an unopened gamecube wavebird controller for 2.99. The clerk checked with the register and the price was solid.

I hope this helps!

I'm going to chime in real quick--

This is true, but it is extremely YMMV. I didn't even bother posting about this a month ago when it happened because it varied on extreme levels between one store to the next, but I'll shed some light here:

GC stores are starting to receive (and may periodically continue to receive) massive overstock from Movie Gallery stores, or inventory from Movie Gallery stores that have shut down. In these shipments, there's a ton (and I mean a ton) of rare stuff: Brand new Wavebird controllers, new Action Replays for XBox systems, old arcade joysticks for the PS2.. there's even some 12 month XBox Live bundles with MechAssault that still work on the 360. All of it ranges in price from $0.98 to $2.99. The most expensive thing I have personally seen was a Logitech Precision XBox controller (I love those controllers) for $4.98.

The reason I withheld this deal, as I said earlier, is that it wildly varies from one GC store to the next. Four stores in my district received a ton of stuff, the other twenty did not. Many employees bought many items, as expected. Am I mad about this? No.. just mildly upset that it happened on my day off ;)

So yes, there's a lot of stuff trickling in to GC stores, but do not go in expecting to find something this great. Just keep a watch the next time you're in a GC store, you never know what you may run across.

I'm not sure what a lot of stores do, but my store has a big metal bin in which we put all our clearance stuff that falls under this sale. I got the wavebird from mine, and the 12 month live card. we have recently been getting in some PS2 Street Fighter Anniversary pads for $.99. Lots of cool stuff to look for.

Ahhhhhhhhh this would explain why I found a new Controller S and a Knights of the Old Republic guide a few weeks ago.
