"Newbie" Still... Why? HELP

Help guy's ive got a question, how many post do i need before i get rid of my "newbie" tag under my avitar? ive been a member for over a year..& i think about 67 post

it sucks to be a "Newbie" LOL

I think 100 posts will do it.

Admitting you've been here and only posted 67 times over a year is not the best admission, as it implies you are not participating but only here to take advantage of others' deals.

It took me a while to get through the "newbie" stage too.
 
i was a newbie for about a year also. all you have to do is post a little more often and get to the regular level and you should be fine
 
...it really shouldnt matter one way or the other. It should be based on quality of posts, not how many inane things you can post in a row.
 
Cheapy has said he's working on a system that will base rank on how long you've been here rather than how many posts you've made. When that system gets implemented, I don't know.
 
It took me a while to get off of newbie too. Just try to make a couple of posts every time you are on here and you'll move up eventually.
 
You can make a TL and bump it every hour and say "CML" on everyones TL. This happen alot,about a month ago I think the mods noticed and have clamped down on it
 
I think it should figure in posts and how long youve been a member. You can post every day mulitple times and day and still not really give anything to the CAG community. You can also be a member for 2 years and have 20 posts and not really do anything but steal other people chances at good deals.
 
I think it shouldbe based on time served, and quality over quantity.
Maybe a two fisted title level. - New/regular/vet/etc for time served....... and drivel/spam/intelligent/contributor/etc or something like that for quality or quantity.
I also thinthat for those "special" posters who we can never understand , they should be given an appropriately"special " title".
 
Noodle- That would be really hard to be able to do that... I dont even know if it would be possible without an actual person doing each member.

Maybe a title based on length of time since registering, and a "ranking" or "reputation" point system that fellow registered members can vote on, either giving positive or negative points based on the quality of your posts.

So a person could be a "newbie" with good ranking, or an "all-star" with poor ranking.

What difference does it make? It"s time consuming and open for exploitation. Who the fuck is going to vote anyway?! Leave it like it is. "Newbie" is just a word. Who cares.
 
Yes, vBulletin actually does have a Karma system hack that is easy to install. You give Reputation to particularly good or bad posts, and there's a Rep box under a user's miniprofile under their avatar that shows their ranking.

Yeah, but I've seen the "rep" system on other vBulletin forums, and all it amounts to is a popularity contest. You'll have a user who has a problem with someone else giving bad rep on every post, and some artificially bumping up others.

Also true. Implementing this is a risk factor of how mature CAG'ers are.

Yeah, my bad... I forgot not everyone on this site is honest and a moral person, no matter how much I want to think it.
 
yeah 67 is pretty low. I've been here for about a year and a month. I have well over 1000 post. I average at least 5 post a day. 1 of those post is my tradelist though. I also have about 52 positive feed back here. I'm not saying you should be like me but there's a difference between people who post and people who don't(obviously). I dont think how long you've been here matters. i've only been here a year.
 
wow, according to my public profile i'm up to 2,000 and i started about a year ago. I dont understand how people can post like 20-50 times a year. At lkeast write on how the deal worked at a store near you. Even that can help people out and add +1 to your post count.
 
I try to post relavant to every topic I can until I get tired, but lately I've been a little more active. Just try to make sure you're adding something to the topic. Post deals that you find whenever you go shopping, even if its already been posted, if you think its good its like a free bump for the deal. In the worst case your thread will be locked which really isn't that big of a deal anyway.

Oh and um... search before you post stuff. If you don't think the first couple of pages match your topic you should be safe ;)


EDIT: Oh and if your really desperate for posts, take a trip to the OTT. You can pretty much post whatever you want in their in Instant messanger form. Lots of posts that way, though that would be spam if you care. :roll:
