Newegg.com Stopped NY sales tax!

Newegg.com sent me an email stating they are no longer charging taxes to people in Ny. Finally for us Nyers someone has given us a break on taxes over the internet. More video games now!
 
"[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Disclaimer: While Newegg no longer charges sales tax to its New York customers effective August 21, 2008, you may still have an obligation to pay New York State use tax on your purchases."

Anyone want to explain what that means?

I guess it just means that it's going back to the way it's been for a few years - you're meant to pay the sales tax yourself when you do your taxes...although nobody did (thus the ruling in the first place).

I don't really use newegg so I'm hoping for amazon too (I use for everything)
 
I knowwww! I love Amazon too, I hope they follow! I'm just mad I bought my 360 controller a couple of days ago when they were charging tax..lol

Yeah. Congrats to everyone in NY, at least until the tax mongers send you a letter saying you better pay up the sales tax you owe based on your purchases, like they did to a friend of mine whose family was ordering smokes online from a site based out of NY state.

They'll probably get those who don't pay the tax one way or another.

If not though, then good deal.

I actually left Cali ASAP, I was definitely not a fan, lol.

I will never help Cali with their money woes! Unless you're selling something really cool that I want =P Tax free trading/selling! No state wins!
