Got this straight from Joystiq (who got it from PSM): http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/30/newly-designed-psp-coming-in-2007/

8GB flash drive included as well as a camera and some other crap I guess...

No way I'm buying this unless Sony seriously puts some muscle behind it and developers start bringing the AAA titles...

The pic is fake. It's been brought to attention by many people in the comments, but they haven't changed it yet. Sloppy on their part.

Ahhh... good. It looks like shit. Oh well, you know one is coming eventually and hopefully it will include at least 4GB memory, a second analog nub, better volume controls and longer battery life.

I doubt they'd change the control scheme... think that 'new' one has dual analog nubs whereas the original doesn't. That means developers could make a PSP game for the new one and the old system would be able to handle it (unless they put in two control schemes).

Plus, that thing doesn't meet Sony's style over functionality policy.

Here's some more info:

According to my newest PSM Sony is going to Re-release a redesigned PSP that will hit first in Japan as soon as March 2007
So far it looks like Sony will
  • reached a deal with Samsung to purchase 8GB flash memory chips which will be built in according to industry reports.
  • miniature hard disk drives are out
  • will be streamlined and thinner and lighter
  • Sony is still expected to include astill/video camera of undertermined resolution as a buit-in feature of the new PSP

i read the latest issue of playstation magazine and there was no mention of a psp redesign; the joystiq article was posted by a blogger which makes it very fake

They can easily have different control schemes (in the games that need it)

Man, if they DO release a new PSP design I will be pissed! Unless Sony is taking old designs and sending out new ones to current owners, which I highly doubt they will do since this is Sony we're talking about.

I'm waiting for a PSP with dual analogs and a built in hard drive. That mock up could be it. But that mock up also looks ultra non sleek.
